Follow up post laparoscopy

Can anyone advise on standard procedure for follow up post lap? I had mine in October and have been battling the system trying to get my biopsy report sent to my GP so their records are updated. I've had no follow up since the day I left the hospital with my confirmation that they had found Stage II and removed some of the tissue. Hormonal control was not an option for me, nor the coil so I was given some research to do myself on managing the condition but I feel like I should still be under someone's care/getting check ups?

You should have a follow up appointment. Hope you get a follow up appointment soon.

Now, do I make a nuisance of myself with the GP surgery or with the diagnosing Gynae? ;)

I had my follow up at the hospital. Try the gynaecologist first because that’s where you had the laparoscopy. Hope you get appointment soon.

Thank you for your support, looks like it's going to be pushing through from the GP for me as the hospital believe that no follow up is required. It's a very patchy system, isn't it?!

Hello lovely. I had my first lap last October and have had no follow up. They just aren’t giving me one. Which I think is shocking. They found endo and removed it. I was basically sent home with my paperwork saying that I had been diagnosed with endometriosis and what they had found and what they had done. And that was it. No face to face contact. No advice. Nothing. 5 months later and I am suffering with the pain more and more. Currently waiting to be referred by my GP after having lots of blood tests and doing lots of wee samples. I would definitely ring the hospital or get referred through your GP if you want to talk to someone. X

Sounds shockingly similar to my experience! I was on the phone to the consultant's secretary today trying to trace my hysteroscopy report and asked her why there had been no follow up and she seemed to think that was normal. I said that felt like a massive gap in the service that I would have to go back via the GP (who I battled to get to this point anyway) to see someone. I'm going to look up the NICE guidelines and see if Endo UK has any advice on the true process. Will report back my findings. Hope you get somewhere soon x

Thank you! Appreciate it! I just felt that they should tell me what they found in person, especially as I was being diagnosed. So one day I had nothing and the next day I have been diagnosed with endometriosis and the medical professional who discovered and diagnosed it did not even tell me to my face. I expected to have a follow up and for the specialist to tell me about how it might effect my life, what might help, when I might need to come back to see them etc etc. The only information I have ever found about the condition is online and through wonderful online forums like this x
