Hi
Just bit concerned no periods since laparoscopy. During surgery I was on my last day of my period that was the 1st of June and no periods since then. I did read some women get periods quick after and some don't and that the period can be heavier and more painful than normal. I'm just wondering if any one else had a long wait for their body to go back to normal following laparoscopy and removal of endometriosis.
I recently had my follow up appointment with my gynaecologists registra. She was very kind but did seem surprised no period as of yet. I asked what stage my endometriosis was & I didn't really get an answer except that I was in the middle! So I assume stage 2/3 from what I read and what was wrong with me. They couldn't get it all out so some left behind on my overy forget which side now but if I had to guess i would say the right side!
I also asked. If I could get pregnant I have had years of being told no one could help me etc but no one ever checked to see if I had endometriosis. Her reply was I had a chance of getting pregnant now. Funny thing is I wasn't over joyed by that so after having a pregnancy test I left with the contraceptive Pill prescription. Told I don't have to wait for my period I can take now and now prescribed to help with painful periods /pain and to prevent getting pregnant.
I left feeling ok but on way home I felt sad, angry and a bit cheated annoyed really that no one checked years back about endometriosis. I had fertility treatments, donor eggs in Barcelona and no one said we best do a laparoscopy. I know I can't change the past now but I felt so tired and drained the following day after being upset. My husband wants us now to see if I get pregnant so I not started the pill. But as I pointed out to him we r now in our 40s and things are different and we have an adopted daughter. He feels this is how it was ment to happen but although I see his points I doubt we will get pregnant. And if by some miracle it did happen I am old now and tired constantly. my parents and his are a lot older so the support network not as good as it would have been had the 'you could get pregnant' comment come way back in 2008,2010 etc. Life timing is not the best plus the emotions of each month when the period arrives and means no baby 👶🏻 will have an affect. At mo no periods since laparoscopy and feelings of one either so at mo we waiting for that but I pray it not heavier than normal as they are heavier enough when I have them. I flood badly and pain is bad some months affects how I walk as I get many blood clots. Some months worse than others often I calculate roughly when due and avoid working some night shifts at start of cycle cause it hurts when I pass a clot. So in some ways if I never saw a period again I be happy but as I told the gynaecologist I don't want early menapause either. I have had hormone imbalances at age 22 and suffered bad with hot flushes and sweats so now free from that I don't want back any time soon.
But any idea on how long before a period I know we are all different etc just if any one had similar I'm also now discharged from gynaecology department she says if period doesn't appear to go back to my GP to be re referred. But how long do I wait this be the third month she didn't advice and to be honest I didn't ask. Which was stupid of me I suppose lol any suggestions ??
