Hi i have had severe constapation which caused a blockage. I take alot of bowel medication just to go to the toilet. My pain started on the right side so they went down the appendix route at first. A colonoscopy which ment they could refer me to a gastro team. Since seeing the consultant I dont have the right sided pain as much. Plus no admition for bowel problems. Also some painkillers can block you as well. Hope this helps
I am currently taking 8 sachets laxido a day for a few days and 4 on the other days but I'm getting a awful left sided pain. I can hear a gas pain going up and down on left side but find it really hard to pass it. It's really dragging me down. I am taking painkillers I was taking codeine but now just taking Tramadol as pain is so bad .
Im on bisycodal for laxatives as nothing else worked, but i also take purcalopride which works on the constapation and endometriosis. The tramadol will cause u constapation 2. Xxx
My pain is left side concentrated which led the hospital to initially refer me to colo-rectal. They did a barium enema to find no problems and are now doing an MRI. I pushed them for a lap in case of adhesions (had them before) which they listed me for but said it is non-urgent so I am bottom of list. The gynae Dr saw me after an ultrasound showed an adenomyoma and he thinks endo so has written to colo-rectal to do my lap together but colo-rectal are still holding out for a long wait time. I take Laxido every other day - any more and I get diarrhoea. I understand the desperation - it's hard work being unwell!
I have recently 8 weeks ago had a laparoscopy and been diagnosed with Endometriosis and Adenomyosis.
I had endo on my uterosacral ligaments and pod but none actually on my bowel which is where we thought they would find it. I'm finding it so frustrating because the pain is getting worse and I can't function x
Hi, Both tramadol and codeine will cause constipation. Also both endo and adeno can cause constipation. Adeno and endo pain does seem to more prevalent on the left side also for info.
After my surgery was convinced I had a partial bowel blockage at least as my (sorry in advance if tmi!) stools were flat as if my bowel was being squeezed together, I had nausea, a pressure feeling on my bowel and some issues with constipation if I didn't keep on taking the Lactulose.
I went to see my GP who examined me and was confident it was a post op infection and not a bowel blockage. He said I would know if it was a bowel blockage as I would be vommitting with it not just nauseous. A neighbour of mine who has Crohn's disease and has had bowel blockages said the same to me also.
Perhaps try Lactulose or dulcoease as I have found these more beneficial in relieving constipation, although Lactulose tends to take 2-3days before it kicks in. Also if you try Lactulose try upping the dose to 15ml 3 times a day which is what my specialist recommended I do and that worked better. This combined with drinking 3 litres of water a day really does work. I know it sounds like a lot of water but it will help!
Hi, I've previously has a small bowel obstruction it was at my terminal illium (where the small bowel joins the large bowel). I was in a lot of pain I could not move. I was vomiting partially digested food anything that was above the blockage (it looked and smelled like faeces). I also could not pass any wind from my back passage but I couldn't stop burping. And my stomach was so swollen I looked 9 months pregnant.
This occurred following a capsule endoscopy the capsule got stuck in the narrowing.
If you have any of those symptoms please go to a and e.
I'm feeling nauseated but not been sick, completely off food, I can hear gas moving up and down on left side but it takes ages before I can pass it and it's not a lot and this is happening literally u every time I do eat.
Mu stomach is swollen I can't get my jeans done up I'm living in tracksuit bottoms xx
Aww I'm sorry your feeling so aweful. If you are managing to pass some wind I don't think it can be a complete obstruction ( but I'm not a Dr im only going from my experience)
Have you passed any bowel motions?
Have you tried phoning your GP or your endo nurse specialist? I think you should get some advice.
Thanks hun. Yeah she thinks it may be be partial blockage as I pass some wind but not a lot even though I feel I need to.
Yes i take take laxido 8 sachets at moment but she said with laxido it can kind of go round edge of bowel and move thay as liquid.
Yes just spoke to my Gp she is great she has put me on oramorph because of my pain she has told me to keep going with laxido and now she has added lactose and fibre gel to try and move what we can through before colonoscopy.
Thanks hun xx
Would you be blocked hun if you are taking all that laxido? It's not possible is it? Least you got your op soon and they can have a proper look for you. I think it may be the adeno as I get those feelings too
Dr said it could be possible and it could be something like polyps causing obstructions. I just don't feel like my bowel is ever clear . Nobody seems to have this left sided pain that i have in same place all the time, Dr said left side is usually bowel. It's driving me mad x
My pain is all left and centre but I had a clear barium enema so there is no problem with my bowels. I'm now waiting for a lap to look at endo, cysts on ovary and adeno. I started taking Laxido daily and dropped to every other day which keeps me regular but does give me awful gas in the evenings. Ironically I was told to stop wholewheat bread and pasta as that is harder to pass through the system and to eat the white as it passes through easier. This has made a difference as I don't feel things are sat in my gut as long. Also when pain has been really bad a couple of times I have had urine tests that showed infection and antibiotics were needed - may be worth a try.
I have had left sided pain for a very long time, myself and to no avail can the doctors tell me properly what is causing me this pain. They have mentioned in the past that i have endo and i have had many ops for this, and a colonoscopy and a endoscopy , and been on ormorphy and nothing helped me. I am so sorry that you are going through this endless pain in your left side and I hope that they find what your pain is, and you begin to feel better after your operation on the 19th May. Gentle Hugs :-)) x
I was in hospital with same symptoms in feb. The hospital sent me home saying it was prob endo but my gp kindly kept treating me. The only thing that works was an antibiotic for intestine infections. Dr said there is little pouches that can block and become infected. The antibiotics were a strong 3 day course and I felt 80% better after one.
