After years of pain and no official diagnosis due to surgery risks, I have now been told by consultant I can have a lap to diagnose me, and treatment of endo or adhesions in op if necessary. How long will I require off work and what's the recovery like after? any info or experience will be appreciated :)

Hi, I had my lap on Monday and had removal of cyst on my right ovary along with a lot of endometriosis removed. The pain after surgery is very uncomfortable and the shoulder pain from trapped wind really doesn't help but as you'll see from other posts a lot of people recommended peppermint tea and windeze tablets and they do really help. I'm currently off work for 2 weeks and will have to let you know after that if I'm back to normality but everyone seems to be different in their recovery time. Do you know how long you have got to wait for surgery? Xx

Hi Olivia. I've just had my 3rd laparoscopy this week and it's usually 1 to 2 weeks recovery. You will be very trendier from the surgery and you'll need total rest. Look up on the endo uk website for more details. Take care. Julie. Xx

Thanks guys, not yet I've signed consent already at appointment with consultant but just waiting for letter in post to confirm date of op, think waiting time is about 8 weeks but I'm buying a house don't want it t fall near moving time. Is there a recommend amount of time to have off work as I'll need to tell my manager sooner rather than later. Worrying now about what they'll find, did you both go home the same day? X

Yes came home the same day because I think it's nice to get in your own bed. I think the average recommended time off is 2 weeks. Well good luck with everything xx

Qqqqqtwo weeks is the average time to take off I'm 12 days post op, had endo excised from behind uterus and ligament, Unfortunately I was diagnosed with ADENOMYOSIS too, I'm still in a lot of pain but I don't think it has much todo with the op now, I had a little arm shoulder pain and felt blotted for days, and sore,

Good luck xxx
