Hiya, was wondering if it is normal to feel dizzy and light headed 3 days after laproscopy? Also feel sick with it aswell.

Im taking co codemol 2 every 6 hours , i have been thinking its a side effect of them?

Any advice is appreaciated please.

Hiya! I had my lap on Tuesday and I’m still feeling a bit sick - and a bit dizzy when I’ve been lying down for a while. The side effects of co-codamol are nausea and they can make your head a bit ‘fuzzy’ if you aren’t used to them!

How are you feeling after your lap? I feel like I’ve been hit way harder than I expected to be 😂

Hiya, yeah i feel just the same then. I had mine on tuesday also, and defo feel worse than i expected. I thought id be back to work by now. No hope lol😂

It must be the co codemol then , ive gone down to 1 co codemol every 6 hours and take ipbrofen every 8hours hopefully ill feel a bit better. Hope you get better soon, take it easy. As i found i was trying to do to much to soon, and i started to feel worse again. So back to bed for me. Xx

I hope you recover quickly! I’ve got a sick note for 2 weeks, and I’m definitely going to need that. The thought of putting normal clothes on at the moment too 🙈 not a chance! 😂

Xx

Take 2 of the said painkillers every 4 hours instead of 6 hours.

This is completely normal, you will still have the anaesthetic and pain killers like morphine in your system so any co-codamol will be keeping it topped up so to speak. Which it’s meant to! Keep taking any medication as advised and your body will adjust and you’ll start feeling less dizzy after 7 - 10 days. Also sleep lots! Your body will be trying to repair which can make you tired and dizzy so sleeping will help lots.

Hi, I had a laparoscopy 6 weeks ago and I also felt very sick and dizzy for 2 weeks after. I stopped taking the codeine after a week but then still felt the same for another week. I’ve had 6 weeks off work which I didn’t expect at all, I was so tired and had zero energy for 3 weeks then I got tonsillitis so was knocked off my feet with that for over a week.

I have only just started to feel better in myself the last week and will be going back to work on Monday.

Just take it easy, don’t try doing too much and make sure you rest when you feel the need to. It can take a while for your body to recover.

Hope your feeling better soon x

Cocodamol makes me very dizzy so I try and stick with ibuprofen. Also the anaesthetic can take over a week to clear your system which won’t be helping. Get lots of rest and hope you feel better soon x

Thankyou for all your replies. I decided to come off co codemol and stick to paracetomol and ipbrofen. I just couldn't stand that feeling of being dizzy or sick.

Fingers crossed for speedy recovery for all. Xx

You'll feel funny after the anaesthetic and you're right the co-codamol can make you feel drowsy/dizzy/out of sorts. Remember to take something like lactulose alongside whenever you are taking co-codamol, especially if the dosage is higher than 8/500mg tablets. It can make you very constipated if taken longer than a few days, but you'll need the pain relief for a while yet, lactulose helps.

how does your wound look? your symptoms could be down to the medication but it could also be a sign of infection.

Im Feeling fine now, so im guessing it was to do with the meds as i have stopped co codemol and the dizziness stopped. Xx
