Hi all, I'm really hoping someone here can help me figure out what's going on....
For well over a year I've been experiencing terrible period pains the week before and during my period, my bleeding is also far heavier and the pressure I feel is unbearable. I often get full a lot quicker and struggle to eat a lot (although my weight sadly never decreases) and I experience the period pains after sex with my husband.
I recently was brave (my auntie had ovarian cancer) and went to the doctors, he refered me to have a scan which showed a cyst and I was then refered on to a consultant who I saw this morning...... He says the cyst is only 4cm by 3cm and is therefore not big enough to cause me any issues and believes my problems are bowel related. He did a womb biopsy (worse than childbirth) and had suggested once I said I couldn't cope with the pain anymore to have a 3 month course of prostap. Of course you come home and google it and now I find myself wondering if it's the right thing for me to do. It seems like I have to do it just to prove it is a problem with the cyst but I am really of put by the side effects, bearing in mind I am only 32. I don't feel informed at all and I would love to hear of anyone who has had similar experiences.

Hiya Hun, i suffered with extremely painful periods for years and in december 2012 a scan showed that i had uterine polyps. They advised me to try prostap for pain and when i googled it i was horrified and refused because the side effects sounded awful. To cut a long story short i had a sub total hysterectomy last march aged 39 but was still having terrible pain so i decided to try prostap. I can honestly tell you that the side effects really aren't that bad, the hot flushes can be a pain but this drug has been a godsend for me and my quality of life is so much better. All you can do is give it a try to see if it works. Good luck hope all goes well Rachel xx
I am 34 and have had endometriosis since I was 16. I have had surgery many times including removal of my right ovary. As the pain is worse than ever I am considering a hysterectomy within the next few months. I have refused Prostap for years based on the side effects, my age and I didn't want drug therapy. However, I agreed to start it to prepare for the hysterectomy. The side effects are really not that bad, the hot flushes are a pain and at the min they are bothering me during the night but they come and go, I'm on week 7 of Prostap - I've had two injections so far. The pain has gone completely....
