Ovarian cyst and diverticular disease

After being in agony for several days, I finally was seen by a GP who referred me to A&E. I had a CT scan on Thursday which showed that I have diverticular disease and a cyst on my ovary. I’m waiting to have ultra sound scan of the cyst today to see wether I need surgery or not and being referred to the gastro dept regarding my bowels. When I asked one of the doctor’s could these be connected to my Endometriosis’s he said no but from reading it could be. Anybody had any similar experiences?

Hi Lucy yes I understand your pain.

I have adenomyosis so my womb grows into my muscle wall and it effects my bowels. I have had this for many years and I think personally it’s all linked given my symptoms. I like you have a cyst too (on my ovary) and waiting for a scan.

Please Pm if you need to chat xx

Hi Lucy I had my lap in June and they removed the endometriosis as it stuck my bowel to my ovaries, pelvic wall and uterus but also found I had diverticulosis! I had no idea before. I need to be referred but al I keep getting is dietary advice from gp I think there must be a link somewhere as they’re both inflammatory diseases xx

Yes I had a lap 3 years ago and my bowel was stuck to different areas. Its frustrating and in the meantime I’m sure your suffering. Especially when so many woman are suffering you would hope that doctors would be more aware. xx

Yes it really is, I find that the less fibre I eat the easier things are.. which is ridiculous as I love my fruit and veg, supplements are helping though. Pease keep me posted on your gastro investigation if you don’t mind xx

I will do.

They have told me to be on a high fiber diet, but I do struggle with some fruit and veg tummy wise. Have you looked at fodmap, have certain fruit and veg but only in small quantities. My ultrasound has shown that my fibroid is affecting my bowel too. xx

They told me that too, I struggle badly with constipation when I eat a high fibre diet it makes it worse which is mad. Yes I have I was diagnosed with ibs about 7 years ago and it helped, I’ve just started again so fingers crossed. I do find turmeric has helped with pain too. Thank you 😊 xx
