Hi

I had my laproscopy on Wednesday and all last night and this morning every hour I have been sick, I go very hot just before I'm sick.

Should I go back to hospital?

It could be normal, or it could be an infection, call the NHS for advice, they will request to see you if necessary.

My advice is don't compare to anyone else, we're all different and although you have similar symptoms to someone else, you may have a completely different problem so get it checked for your own peace of mind.

Xx

Hi Hev2014

I would definitely go back when I had mine I was sick several times due to the painkillers so they kept me in overnigh. There is no harm in going and getting checked over. Are you taking any painkillers now?because they offered me oral morph but it makes me sick so I just took your standard painkillers instead.

Anesthetic can make you feel very sick and sends your whole system up the Creek! Getting hot before getting sick is normal the same as when your tummy works...

If you are still in a lot of pain and you have a high grade temperature then it would be best to seek some help as you may have an infection which will no doubt make you feel sick. However if your temperature is normal and the pain is subsiding it may just be the after effects of the anesthetic and all the Meds they pump you with while in theatre.

I had mine on Monday and had to take anti sickness tablets the day after as was feeling really ill. I still have bouts of naseaua and dizziness especially when I get too tired.

It might be a minor op but your body has taken quite a knock and just needs time to recover. Make sure you drink plenty...

Hope you feel better soon x

Hi everyone, I've just got back from the out of hours at hospital. I do have an infection so on anti biotics for a week and also anti sickness tablets. Been told might need longer on anti biotics.

I'm very exhausted and hoped to be back at work Wednesday. Might ask for another week so I can rest.

Thanks for all your advice and care x

Yes absolutey need to be off work - Antibiotics are fickle it may take several rounds to find th right one to kill this off- so do NOT consider returning to work till you are WELL again.

Over 10 years ago, after a lap op - my tummy got an infection through the belly button wound - it took 2 months of trying different antibiotics to nip it in the bud eventually and that ws years ago.

It's even tougher these days as we are more and more resistant to antibiotics, fingers crossed it won't be too long - but don't expect to be returning to work for a bit yet. Give your body plenty of time to fight this and also to heal from the surgical wounds as well.

Not what you're looking for?
