I have already mentioned that my gfr drops to 25 from 34 in 2 months .
I was searching for the potential reason.
I got report of my thyroid profile today.
The TSH is below 0.01 which was 7.2 two months before.
It means it had now become a case of hyperthyroidism from hypothyroidism in 2 months time gap.
Total t3 has increased to 2.66 and total t4 has increased to 20.4
Both were in normal range two months back.
Does my dropping kidney function has any relation with my fluctuating thyroid profile?
When I was diagnosed with ckd in 2012, then biopsy reports indicated it as proliferative Glomerulonephritis i.e lupus nephritis but my doctor is rigid that it in not lupus. And therefore he is not providing me any standard treatment of lupus nephritis.
I am only on ACE inhibitors and BP medicine.

You need to ask for a referral to an Immunologist or whatever they are called. If you do have Lupus and this doctor is not treating you can have not so great outcomes. If he will not give you one you may want to get a new doctor. Is this doctor a Nephrologist or general practitioner.
If you have a primary care doctor as well as the Nephrologist ask for the referral from your primary care doctor. Ask the Nephrologist to explain to you why he refuses the referral and proper treatment per your test results. Put him on the spot and make him explain. Maybe he has a good reason but I am not thinking so. If you like him and he still refuses then I would ask for a repeat of the test to see if it shows the same results.
Hi Drakula. I know that years ago when I first began noticing fluid retention issues (before my CKD diagnosis), I researched the causes of the retention, and it listed hypothyroidism as a cause of kidney malfunction. I tried many times to request a referral to an endocrinologist, as I knew that since childhood, doctors had always said that my metabolism was on the lower end of the range.
Back in the early 2000s, I had lost both my parents within 9 months of each other, and it was a very stressful time. My fluid retention gradually began around that time, and knowing that stress can cause hypothyroidism, I wanted it investigated. However, no go. My doctor at the time refused, saying that my bloodwork did not indicate any thyroid issues, even though I was also having other symptoms like feeling cold (that was very unlike me, I’ve always been the one who opened windows in February).
So, I believe that thyroid issues hyper- or hypo- can create kidney issues, and possibly vice versa. If I were you, I would continue to request to have this investigated further, by insisting on referrals to the proper specialists. This is your health we’re talking about, not theirs. It’s their job to look into this and to help you improve your medical well-being. It’s what they’re being paid for.
I hope you get the help you need and deserve. I wish you all my best, dear. Please keep us posted. God bless. 🙏😊👍
