I have ckd 3a and have had it for approx 15 years.

Any advice on magnesium supplements. I currently use a spray. I have heard magnesium Glycinate is the best one to take. Am I right in thinking one with zinc is also worth taking

why are you taking it? I started on magnesium for three reasons. One for leg cramps for dialyisis...did not work on that... two for sleep.... helps with that, and 3 for bowel movements but you have to take a lot for that I only take 200 mg.

run it by your doctor because it can build up in your system

Thank you so much. I will do.

It depends on why you're taking it (constipation, sleep, cramps, palpatations, etc). I take three types of magnesium because I've had my magnesium levels tested, and I'm very low. As we always say here, eat (and take supplements) to your blood work! Best wishes!

Magnesium Glycinate sounds like a match for you! Again, assuming your are deficient. With CKD, we have to be so much more careful than the average person.

Curious ... do you find any benefit from the spray? I bought some recently, but it's still sitting in my cabinet because I don't have the energy to wash it off before I go to bed! LOL

Thank you so much. I did hear the magnesium glycinate was the most suitable. Do you know if you can request a magnesium blood test by post. I know with ckd we do have to be cautious. I must admit I have used the spray for a couple of months but not noticed much difference. I must admit I spray it on wait for it to dry and hop into bed 😆 xx

I'm in the US, and my PCP is wonderful and works with me, and is always open to ideas and suggestions. Magnesium is a simple blood test, and sending a message to your provider will hopefully get the order placed! 🤞

That sounds great. I’m in the uk. I had a full blood count recently but it didn’t include magnesium. Thank you again for your help. Xx

Yes, it's a separate blood test. I hope you get answers, and more importantly, a good night's sleep! 😴
