How was the experience of using a continuous glucose monitoring app? Which brand? How do they compare?
I am considering getting it for my type 2 diabetes mum.
I have seen quite a lot of posts about DEXCOM and FreeStyle Libre, but it's hard to tell the difference between them as they both provide sensors and readings on the phone.

Both types of CGMs are being used in both USA and the UK, now. Has your mom's doctor suggested that she use a CGM for tighter control? How many times a day does she do blood sugar testing? What are her blood sugars during the day and evenings before and while sleeping? Does she get very low while asleep? Does she know if she's dropping?
I use the G6 because it keeps me alerted to when I am dropping with my blood sugars ( I have type 1 Diabetes). I don't have any awareness of when I start to drop. I can't feel lows, but when the alarms start going off and the arrows are either angling down and/or straight down one or two arrows, then I test and see if I need a snack at the time. Depending on how the arrows are going, I may have to do a recalibration. The manual says that if the arrows are straight up or down, then you have to wait until the arrows are going either sideways or angling either up or down. If you do a calibration and the arrows are straight up or down, then it can cause the sensor to not work correctly and it may end up failing afterwards.
No doctor has suggested it, I am considering it based on researching ways to help support her. I will need to check in with her about the other questions.

she doesn't test regularly, she said she run out of stripes for testing, I think having this device would help to make it easier

First, thank you for the answers to the questions. Second, if she doesn't have awareness of when she is dropping/going low, the doctor needs to help fill out the paperwork for her to get a CGM ( they will alarm saying if she is lower after she sets the alarms). She still needs strips and a regular testing kit incase the CGM is off and she/you may have to help recalibrate it.
I am type 2 and have been using the libre freestyle monitor for a couple of years now. It’s a great way to learn what foods cause blood sugar to spike and has allowed me to avoid using medication. Totally recommend for anyone interested in actively managing their condition.
