I have been type 2 for 14 years and over the last year I have found that my after breakfast readings vary inexplicably. If my pre-breakfast reading is around 6.0 it jumps o 13 or 14, if my early reading is about 7.5 it only goes to 9.5 approx.
For the last 6 mths I have eaten the same breakfast and followed the same procedures during the 2 hrs afterwards.
I'm a type 1 diabetic. I've noticed that my before and after breakfast numbers sometimes do the samething as what you're talking about. I eat the same food every single day, too, but it sometimes doesn't matter. All I do is raise the dose of insulin and sometimes that can lower the numbers before the time I have to eat lunch at 12 noon on weekends and 1 pm during the week at my job. Give it a few days during the week and see if anything changes. If it doesn't work after a few days, talk to your Endo. about the issue. Let us know what happens.
Thanks but I am on tablets and therefore cannot change the dosage. My diabetic nurse just says "We expect a rise after meals".
Oh, but from what to what is the nurse want your numbers to be before and after each meal and snack?
I have a range of 4.0 to 9.0.
What does that convert to in mg/dl?
Sorry I have no idea my diabetic nurse has always talked in mmols.
Multiply mmol value by 18 to get mg/DL value
O K Thank you
Thank you!😀
