I have recently been told I am diabetic, but the only symptom I had was thrush twice. I have been taking Metformin for a week now. How do I tell if they are helping please? Is it just the blood test every 3 months that will tell me if they are working? Thank you.

Like you, I was told I was pre-diabetic (type 2) a couple of years ago and put on metformin, and my doc also asked me to go on a low carb/keto diet, which I did. After the first year my bloods were back to normal, nowhere near being pre-diabetic and that's where I've stayed so far at least, fingers crossed. My doc say they have about 80% success rate with this approach ad I've met quite a few people with the same story.

My doc does a blood test every six months, or down to once a year now I think as it has worked.
