If you urinate frequently and you visit your Doctor for consultation and if your Doctor has prescribed Dutas T after some tests, you seem to have enlarged Prostate which is also known as BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) . Nothing to worry , every male is going to have one day or other with age - some one gets it at 50 and some one at 80. While medicines like Dutas T can treat the symptoms one can remain with the enlarged prostate for years together.
The symptoms develop when your prostate gets enlarged and pinch or squeeze your urethra and make it harder to urinate and while you would like to empty your bladder, the prostate squeezes the urethra and as a result you are not able to empty your bladder fully leading to urge to urinate again and again since your bladder never gets emptied fully.
The Dutas T is a combo drug of Dutasteride and Tamsulosin. The former tries to reduce the size of the enlarged prostate and the later is an Alpha blocker which tries to relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder.
Unless it is treated properly with both medicines and naturopathy , it could progress in to complications calling for urgent surgery.
You need to distinguish between BPH and Prostate cancer. Both diseases have same type of symptoms. The test to screen prostate cancer is PSA (Prostate specific Antigen) and PSAP.
Every male after 40 should screen if he has the disease at an early stage. The tests are (1) urine flowmetry (2) Ultrasonography when bladder is full and after emptying (3) PSA (prostate specific Antigen) and PSA phosphatase.
Why this happens to a male remains controversial - some people say excessive sex while others say lack of sex and others say it is nutritional inadequacy i.e lack of vitamins/ minerals. Some experts believe that all males as they grow older are going to have BPH at some stage after 40, irrespective of other Health conditions. It is a never ending debate like Veg Vs Vegan Vs Non Veg , Carbo vs Saturated fat.
However, if you are taking LCHF, it appears to be helpful. However , include some vegetables and fruits which would help supress or delay progression of BPH. These fit well in to LCHF: examples:
Tomatoes,Brocolli, Asparagus,Red ball papers, onion, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, pumpkin, pumpkin seeds, lemon, Cranberry, blue berries, strawberries,Raspberries, grape fruit.
One can test vitamin D level and if required can have vitamin D supplements with consultation with doctor which could help to some extent. Lycopene and Vitamin C also could help.
Avoid processed foods with additives, synthetic flavouring agents, preservatives .
