Q1. I have been monitoring my blood sugar levels and it seems that the lab results are differing by about 15-20%. Are these results good?

Q2. How does vitamin deficiency come in picture with diabetes?

Q3. Also cholesterol levels what to infer?

Could you please let us know what did the doctor to the above given blood tests numbers?

What are the home monitor readings?

Thanks.

He was surprised a little about the levels being down so swiftly. I couldn’t ask the doctor about the difference in lab and home monitor readings, hence the query.

Home monitor reading is always in range of 110-130 mg/dL for FBS. About PPBS because of experimenting with different foods was in range of 125-190 mg/dL. Also I got to know that, because of glucometers using capillary blood and Labs using veinous blood plasma these differences are there. Thanks.

Like any devices the calibration do and can vary on the home machines. Home machines are a quick guide.

As your action in bringing your blood numbers down, keep on it till next HbA1c blood test and there after.

Enjoy one life.

I will not trust 1 readings from any particular lab. I would take readings from multiple labs spanned over couple weeks. I know it is expensive but labs are notorious for using uncalibrated equipment

I know that it could differ but whom to trust. Also someone suggested to keep getting tests from same lab for consistency. I have done these tests from one of the best hospitals in Bangalore so it should be reliable. Anyways I will try to get the results from different lab next time around. Thanks a lot.

All I am trying to say, do not jump to any treatment by taking one reading on one particular day. Cross check

Your numbers are excellent. Don't worry. Continue what you are doing.

I don't know your case but want to share an interesting matter. My friend, age 45, who has problem of bleeding from piles. When he went to doctor, he was asked for blood test before treatment.

His FS BS was 240, PP 280 and A1c around 11.5. He was asked to start medicines, he denied and changed his diet (just removed added sugar, reduced rice and added some raw foods) He taken treatment for piles which was recovered within 15 days.

Afterwards in his every blood test for continue 4-5 months, his Fasting was always below 110 and PP was near 90.

He discussed this with his doctors, who can't (or didn't) explained him satisfactorily. He is not sure whether he has diabetes or not. Later he comes to know that bleeding can cause to high blood sugar and this is temporary. Had he started the diabetes medicines he would have become patient for lifetime.

Thanks for your response. I am diagnosed recently of T2DM. The A1c was 16.1 with FBS/PPBS of 266/333 two weeks back. Before that I was not even aware of diabetes. I have been asking in this forum about diet exercises etc. Which has been aplenty responded by many people. You can look my only other post for more details. These numbers are after taking medications for two weeks with controlled low carb diet and regular exercising. This is the story so far. I have posted the results so as to keep everyone informed and get immensely valued feedback and suggestions.

Thank you for your kind words and suggestions. I have started getting out more often for vitamin D. Does it take long time to get in healthy range?
