Private cholesterol test

Has anyone tried the private cholesterol tests? If so which would you recommend? I had my bypass in September last year and am on 40mg statins daily. I just want to know what's going on inside me, I haven't had my cholesterol checked since way back when. I'm surprised they don't do it regularly. Thanks

Chest Pain with exertion

I did a cholesterol test at a private clinic and discovered it was very high, I've gone back to A&E and they're saying my troponin test is negative and to go home and come back if it persist, so in other words come back after you've had a heart attack, not sure what to do.

Cholesterol test

Hi I get a yearly cholesterol / thyroid test as my mother had high levels and took statins and thyroxine. I’ve been ‘invited’ to go back and discuss my levels with my practice nurse after this year’s test which is not unusual.

Seeking help with blood results and whether to have private test and which ones?

I had requested a cholesterol test to check. On 14/1/2021 serum cholesterol/HDLratio(mol/mol) was 4.2. Serum triglyceride levels(mol/L) was 2.54(+). Seum HDL cholesterol level(mol/L) was 1.3. ThecDr said my cholesterol was slightly raised and no treatment needed at present.

Cholesterol and thyroid test results

Following on from my post 4 months ago - my GP agreed to raise my thyroxine dose to 100mcg and see what happened to my cholesterol. I feel a little bit better for the raised levothyroxine but still get very tired in the afternoon and evening (basically only have any energy in the morning) and still

Fatigue and generally feeling low

After my HA in March 2020, I felt I was recovering well - feeling well and exercising regularly. I experienced some ectopic beats in the summer, which were checked via 72 hour monitor and deemed to be harmless - they faded away after a few weeks. Other than that life has been pretty much back

Quite a few posts on this site mention the fact that all their readings were normal prior to their heart attack. Blood pressure fine , cholesterol level normal etc. I don’t know how many of you have read his account of his heart attack. He obviously led a healthy life by what he said and like many of

Cholesterol Medication.

Hello all, Had HA in May, whilst in hospital my cholesterol was 5.9, had recent blood test and cholesterol is now 2.87. This is due to medication and diet changes, My question is will I be able to come off statins or is it a life medication now? Thanks.

Statin or not??

I'm going to be 50 years old later this year(!) - I'm 5"10' and just under 10 stone (62kg). I gave up smoking 10 years ago and although I'm not an athlete I do keep quite active as I have 2 young kids. My diet is reasonably healthy - porridge every morning and recommended amounts of fruit and veg throughout

Triglycerides

My cholesterol tests were high and my triglyceride at random test was 2.89. But on a fasting triglyceride test it was 3.89. Does anyone know if this could be in anyway normal to be like that?

What do I do?

Have just had a phone call from my health centre. The doctor is concerned about my cholesterol level. (10). This was the level I had when I was first tested on a whim whilst in holiday over 20 years ago. I watched my diet and got it down to 6 something but doctors said I should go on statins. Was given

Is cholesterol affected by historical bad habits?

Hi, I would like to know the following, if possible please: Person X has a cholesterol level of 100 and starts to eat McDonalds 3 times a day for 10 years. His cholesterol goes up to 200. If Person X then eats healthily, will their cholesterol ever return to 100? Put simply: Is cholesterol score a snapshot
