I had my colonoscopy yesterday which went well. Did anyone else have biopsies taken? I had 12 taken as I had 2 ulcers and a fairly inflamed colon. My consultant said it was to do with IBD and I'm awaiting results for the biopsies (not sure what results I.e. do you think it's to determine what type of colitis I have?? I'm getting abit nervous what if he comes back and says its something more than that?! Although I did ask him and he said nothing concerning seen as such. Anyone else have inflammation of the colon.

Biopsies are taken as standard procedure, doesn't necessarily mean there is anything suspicious. My last colonoscopy showed extensive ulceration ( I already know I have UC) so had lots of biopsies taken, result was no active inflammation this time.
If you have inflammation you should be put on medication to reduce it.
It is routine to take biopsies from various places along the way. They help to diagnose which kind of IBD you have and usually it takes a few weeks for results to come back. In the meantime, if you have symptoms, you should be given some meds to calm the inflammation.
I also had a colonoscopy recently and they took biopsies, even removed a small polyp. I was told that it can take a couple of days to get the biopsy results, but no one contacted me so I just assume it was all normal. By the way I have UC and I had inflammation on the lower left side of my colon.
