W9 R1 in the bag...

I am so pleased to have run for 30 minutes, but have a technical issue I could do with some help with please.

Couldn't get my app to work properly this evening so just Laura and I, alone in the (very wet) wilds of Polegate. Have got home and used mapometer to map my run - only 4.14km!

I am getting a little faster, albeit very slowly :)

Any tips gratefully received.

2 runs to go!

Only???? I still can't do more than about 3.5 k in 30 minutes, 3 weeks after graduating.

Who cares - we can run for half an hour without stopping. (And I am already a bit faster than I was in week 9, just by keeping practising.)

Beware of pushing yourself to get too much faster in a short space of time, or you'll be more likely to get injuries. Build it up over a few weeks and you'll still get there, and not have to take time off to mend. :)

What she said! :-) Don't worry about speed, that will improve as you continue to build endurance. Bask in the glory of running 30 minutes!! :-) I was down because I ran last night and it was a horrible run which took me 7 minutes longer then last time to cover the distance. Today after placing it in perspective, I ran 70 minutes! 1 hour and 10 minutes! 6 months ago I struggled with 1 minute. Great going Amanda, awaiting that grad blog!!! Gayle

Goodness Gayle - 70 minutes is such a long time to keep going - especially as I know you've said before that you don't actually enjoy it much. You are one tough cookie! Has your snow gone at all yet, or are you still having to run in iciness?

No ice! Thank goodness! I actually overheated yesterday, which I will contribute to a part of my horrible run. It had been awhile since I had a rotten one from the get-go, so I was due. :-( Yep, don't really enjoy it much, but I have high hopes someday I will. Not so much a tough cookie, greenlegs! More like a stubborn old cow! I made it to a certain point and knew I would be disappointed with myself if I didn't carry on. I paid for that lousy run and extra minutes by not feeling good last night. Me thinks I pushed myself a tad too much! :-)

OMG Gayle - 70 minutes!!!!

Superwoman. Sincere thanks for all your support :)

Not Superwoman, Amanda! More like I need to have my head checked! I didn't cover much distance, so I'm still happy with the time I ran. Although, midway through, I think I was gojjing...backwards jogging. :-)

Thanks Greenlegs - will stop worrying then! :)

I've only got one run to go and my last two 30 minute runs have only been 3.5k. So personally speaking, I'm impressed with you :-)

Hey dont worry about the distance like the others said just running for 30 minutes non stop is a fabulous achievement. I always look back and say to myself 'on the 2nd January I struggled with 60 seconds 8 times, look at me now' my graduation run is tomorrow and my husband is already saying 'dont be concerned if you dont better your time' and I know he is right and will just go out there and enjoy running with the fellow Parkrunners, I can do the distance and then feel great for running for longer, it's a win win situation.

Keep up the good work, go for it ;)

Fingers crossed for you ajf10, nearly there!

I'm sure the others are right.

Personally I have no idea how much distance I am covering in the 30 mins, it just seems to get a little easier each time now and I like that feeling.

If I knew how long a rowing lake was I might use Holme Pierrepont to check out how I'm doing, but I don't!

Thinking of doing a Parkrun in a couple of weeks as an objective marker of what I've achieved
