As always the first run is tough, heavy legs and tightness, my other half suggested it’s because I just got out of bed and went out and my legs haven’t done much? I prefer runs in the morning but my do a pm one to see if it makes any difference?

Did feel better during the 2nd run but then got distracted by the feeling of needing to go to the toilet 😱. Thankfully no mishaps, kept looking for bushes just in case 😳.

Last 5 min run was good a bit tired at the last 60s. Then walked briskly .. in fact I was further away from home and did a little jog for 2 mins then a long cools down and stretches when I got home. Hubby cooking a cooked breakfast so happy days 😁.

Sounds like a good run Jules, well done. And a proper breakie at the end makes it even more victorious! πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ˜‹

I agree that my body feels better on a PM run but if I’m planning to go out first thing I tend to do a few gentle yoga exercises beforehand just to wake up my body.

Thanks. Yes, thoroughly enjoyed my fry up πŸ˜ƒ. Perhaps I should just get my body going for a while before I go out πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ.

You could even just extend your warm up walk to 10 mins and see if that helps loosen you up πŸ™‚

Well done! Heading out for the same run very shortly. Glad to hear that you still had the legs to do a bit extra - there’s hope for me yet hahahahaha.

I had misjudged distances so was further away from home. Didn’t turn round at the half way πŸ™ˆ. So thought I would do a little more. Legs were tired though.

Hope it goes well πŸ˜€

Well done

Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink a minimum of 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.

Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow, as recommended in the guide to the plan.

Many people do not hold their stretches for long enough or put enough effort in. Hold post run stretches for 30 seconds and make sure the pull is strong enough to be on the verge of discomfort.
