So pleased with myself right now, did my first ever 5k run this evening
My graduation run on Saturday was such hard work, I didn't know if I could add 5 minutes to get to 5k. So I took an extra day of rest, chose my favourite route, favourite time (running in the evening), favourite (only!) running tights, favourite socks, etc. etc. I know it is a head game, so I was stacking the deck in my favour - and it worked
I managed the 5k and a little hop and whoop of delight as the nice Endomondo lady told me I had reached my goal in 37 minutes 11 seconds, not too shabby for a two times Granny this run was much, much better than the last.
I did miss Laura's words of encouragement, but playing my own music was soooooo much better too, now I need to play with the tempo so that I can be running to the beat.

Double celebration then! Lovely to see all these 5k's piling up (I'm so glad I did get there in my last run, or I think I'd be feeling a bit left out!)
Run, Bibs run! We granny's gotta stick together!!! Fantastic time and determination to reach that magical 5K!!! Awesome feeling, huh? Well done, you!!! Gayle
Isn't it a fantastic feeling? I can congratulate you from the point of just having done a 5k run as well, and I know I found it very hard work. And your beautiful badge has arrived as well
Thanks Annie, the badge was definitely the icing on the cake. Well done on completing your 5k too
Well done Bibs congratulations on the graduation and the 5K. I know what a great feeling it is. I am still trying to get my 5K time to 30 minutes best so far is 32:30 but I just enjoy the running outdoors. Totally agree about the head thing with all your favourite things especially when you are working your way through the C25K program it’s as much about the mind as about the body. So may this granddad salute the 2 times granny.
Thanks exwightman, I think there are a few of us Grandparents doing the programme, which is very encouraging.
I checked my Endomondo stats later and it turns out I got my numbers jumbled (I blame old age cos I'm sure it wasn't the nice Endomondo lady who got it wrong That'll teach me to try to listen and hop and whoop all at the same time!) turns out my lap time was 7:02 and the total 5 k was 35:11, so I'm pretty pleased with that. I thought I'd slowed down a lot, but it turns out I hadn't. Like you I'm hoping to bring that down a bit, 30 mins would be cool, well done for getting it down to 32:30
