Went out on a cold but sunny morning for a 5k run. Took me 37 minutes but I did enjoy my run more than my last one. Had a 6 day break and am taking advice just not to worry about hitting 5k in 30 minutes. Not sure I will ever make that goal but going to continue running to make myself fitter and to feel good about myself.
It was lovely and quiet out on the roads this morning so enjoyed just jogging along and breathing in the fresh air without a care for anything else.
Off to take my daughter for a gait analysis today as she has been experiencing some knee pain when running so could be an expensive day!
Have a great weekend everyone 🙋🏻

I have a sneaky feeling that once you take the pressure off to achieve (5k in 30m) it all becomes a lot easier and more fun. Never say never. I don't think I'll ever do it (age, physical issues) but I can see myself improving in so many ways.
Yes, maybe you are right. I graduated in November. I do a mix of 30 minute and 5k runs and am enjoying it but often wonder if I’ll hit that 5k in 30. It doesn’t really matter but secretly I would love to do it one day. At the moment I’m still enjoying the fact that I am getting out there and running as never thought I would ever be doing that so I am pleased with my progress 😀
She is more of an athletics runner and plays lots of netball. She does more sprinting, relay and long jump. She loves being active. Can’t persuade her to run with me but I don’t think I would keep up with her. She has so much energy 😀
My youngest daughter runs to relax and maintain fitness- she's a keen tennis player. She doesn't run with me, but she occasionally runs in loops around me making encouraging noises as she passes! - there must be something in that about having your children running rings round you! 😀
Glad to hear you are you are up and running again, TJ! Try not to worry about doing 5k in 30 mins. The more consolidating 5k runs you do, the fitter you will become, and you might find faster. I have shaved 2 mins off my 5k time in just 3 weeks of running 5ks - not by trying, just by keeping my runs regular and doing 5k each time. I still have a long way to go, but enjoying the gentle challenge of running 3 x week. xxx
Yes, I find some days I’m faster than others but just enjoying getting out there and doing it. I don’t do 5k every time as sometimes just run for 30 mins. Feeling more positive about my running though this week so that is good 😀
That’s a nice pace there, well done on getting it done on such a chilly day
I have only managed a sub 30min 5K once. I love just being able to comfortably run 5K without stopping. I’m delighted with anything under 35 mins myself. Just being able to run a full 5K without stopping is fantastic.
Yes, as I haven’t been a runner before I was so pleased to be able to run 5k without stopping but I don’t seem to have got much faster. Thinking about it though, I’m just glad I’m still getting out there and running 2/3 times a week. Maybe I’m being too hard on myself and expecting too much. Well done on your 30 min 5k 👏🏼
