Well, I said I was going for 10K....

....so I did, this morning. I'm not planning on doing it 'pukka' until September in the Great Yorkshire Run. But the sun was shining on a cold frosty day so after one 5k lap of Rother Valley Lake near Sheffield....I did another one. Yay! Nothing has dropped off and nothing is creaking too alarmingly, although I'm listening to my right knee quite carefully.

That's the knee which gave me gyp on the Samaria Gorge in Crete a few years ago. I felt sure cold beer would help but wasn't sure whether to rub it on or apply internally. texted bro-in-law (a podiatrist) and was advised to apply internally and repeat until feeling no pain. It worked!

I'm not going to do this [impromptu 10K] too often, well, not just yet, but sometimes when it all seems right ya just gotta go for it. And the time? A jolly sooper 57mins 51 secs. I AM determined to keep it below the hour.

Well done Old Ned. I agree with you, sometimes it just feels right to just go for it.

Well done! 10k in under an hour is no mean feat (I'd be happy with 5k in under an hour at the moment!)

Fantastic! Well done you and great time too. Your beer cure for injury sounds like the Irish cure for the flu. Go to bed with a bottle of whisky. Pull the covers up so you can see your feet. Pour a tot and drink. Look at your feet. Repeat. When you can't see your feet you're cured! Boom boom!

I like that! Must remember that for when I next have flu.

Fantastic!! What a great time. I am hoping as I get stronger by doing longer distances my time will come down....I would so live to be able to do the magical 5 k in 30 and 10k in 60... One day!!!

Keep up the good work OldNed!!!
