Well I've done it. In the dark. My village ain't quite ready to see me wobbling in the daylight. It felt good. I still feel great. My jogging was very gentle jogging but I expect that's ok isn't it? I really want to keep his going.

Welcome Betty! You will love the program and this community. Yes, a light jog is fine. Go slow and as you build stamina, the speed will eventually increase. The important thing now is finishing each run. You will be amazed with your progress from run to run. Gayle

Well done, you are just letting your body know what is expected. Steady is the way forward rushing is not as you may feel to tired before he end. You will be amazed how your body responds. X

I've completed two week one walk/runs now and found the last two 'runs' quite tough and found I slowed down halfway through both. Another one today, but I think I might have to do week one for a second week. I haven't run in over 40 years and I turned 63 just before Christmas. I'm contemplating entering for a half-marathon in September - eeeek.

Wow! Gayle and Mrs Lazy, thankyou for your lovely replies. It is very encouraging. Gingernut, well done and keep it up. I'm inspired because I haven't even thought of a goal past the 9 week programme. You can do it!

Hello Betty :) Well done on run 1. A gentle jog is best because it will be easier to keep up over long distances. I really had to practice running slowly (am used to sprinting after small children in imminent danger- mother, not superhero) but if you can already jog at a steady pace then you'll probably find the first few weeks easier than I did.

I start week 6 tomorrow and still loving it more than I ever thought I would :)

Hello! I started Week one last Tuesday and couldn't complete it - I just managed six one minute runs. I felt disappointed but when I did it on Thursday I managed to complete all of it and Saturday was - well, not easy but easier! I am going to do a fourth run on Week 1 before moving on but I can seeing myself progress in such a short time has really motivated me. Just keep doing it at your own pace and you will get there.

Vidalia, when I started, I could not complete a few of my 1 minutes either. Just keep going and telling yourself you can do this! Hubby and I just started 10K training yesterday! Wishing you success! Gayle

Hi Betty,

I've just completed week one and like you I am doing a slow slow jog, but hey, we're ding it!

Everyone tells me it will get easier so who am I to disagree?

Enjoy the journey.

I found the third run of week one much easier so I moved on to week two after the three. Now about to do my second run of week two.

Mind you, there was a lad walking in front of me when I was jogging and he was moving faster!
