Week 4 run 1... ouch

I just did week 4 run 1, and ouch. I hadn't really struggled with any runs up til this point, but today felt like hitting a brick wall. I kept jogging(ish) but my lungs hurt, my stomach hurt and my head was pounding. Towards the end it felt like I was dragging my legs through treacle! Feeling very frustrated and worried about my next run now. πŸ˜•

Hi there, I’m due to do my first run of week 4 tomorrow and I’m nervous - it feels like a big leap from 3 minutes to 5. It’s brilliant that even though you felt awful you kept going! Hope the next run is a bit easier for you.

Good luck! I feel like it will hopefully be easier on run 2, and with any luck it'll be the same for you. I'm trying to see the positive that I did manage to complete it, even though it was hard!

Week 4 is a big jump, and run 1 is definitely the hardest - however, once I manager run 1, runs 2 and 3 were relatively easy.....keep going, you can do it.

Good idea. By the sounds of things it really steps up in week 5! We can do this!

Well done, you did it.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

It sounds like you may be coming down with something.

Take care.

Thank you for your kind words. I think you make a good point and I was definitely not well rested this morning, and have felt pretty lousy all day! I'll see how I feel and hopefully be back to it on Saturday 😊

Just have a good rest in between your runs. Let yourself recover 😊

Yesterday was my rest day and I stupidly went for a 4 mile walk. I never have problems walking but it was awful, like you said, I felt like I was walking through treacle and not getting anywhere. So today I've taken an extra days rest and will run tomorrow instead. Running is tough on the old pins! Maybe take a couple of days rest and no doubt you'll smash your next run πŸ˜‰
