I've started using the Mapmyrun app, but whenever I run on the beach it won't record by route/pace, etc., only the time. I've been running when the tide is out and was wondering if the app 'thinks' I've fallen in the sea and can't plot my run! The app works well for my other runs and I was wondering if anyone else has this problem?
Any other beach runners?: I've started using the... - Couch to 5K
Any other beach runners?
I use Endomondo and have noticed it doesn't track well on a footpath I run along next to a river where my Dad lives. Haven't tried a beach run although I live within 1 min of the sea (but not a beach!). Think it would be really hard running on sand? Good luck.
No, I don't have this problem because I've never run on a beach! But I would sooooo love to. I'm sure it's probably harder than I think it would be, but can't wait til I can get down to a flat sand stretch and run by the sea.
Soz, doesn't answer your question, but I am well jel.
Thats funny because my new Ipod touch used to lose its GPS signal when doing 5K which was down at our beach front, it was OK on the way north which was pavement along the beach road but I sometimes lost the signal on the return which was run on a path which was just on the edge of the beach. My Garmin Forerunner 110 is ok though.
I think I'll have to try Endomondo or one of the other apps - or maybe it's a good excuse for a Christmas Garmin
Running on the beach is lovely and not hard at all, as long as you stick to the hard sand where the tide has gone out. The soft sand would have me finished in minutes, if not seconds!!
Just back from a run and no, Endomondo is not playing fair on the beach either
