Thank you to everyone who replied to my blog post about my nerves over Wk5 R3, I was very heartened to read I wasn't alone in dreading it & the tips shared were very helpful. I bore those words of wisdom & support in mind & they really did give me the extra mental push I needed for this one.
As it was a 20 minute uninterrupted run I chose to make a play-list of my own music, which I found did help me mentally as I could measure my progress by which track I was up to - plus I was enjoying it rather than enduring it as I was increasingly with the C25k music (no offence, you can't please all the people all the time). I was of course as sweaty as it's possible to be & had a couple of moments when I thought I'd quite like to stop but the strangest thing is they just seemed to pass & it was like my legs had their own rhythm, first time I've experienced this & it was wonderful - like going through a barrier. I did listen to Laura for the warm up & cool down, but broke off from the 5 min cool down to sit on the church wall, chill out & enjoy the Olympic bell ringing at 8.12 am, it was beautiful.
I was so happy & mellow I ran another 3 minutes to home.

Congratulations. You must feel so proud, and it sounds like you had a really good run too. I should be doing my W5,R3 some time next week and am feeling your trepidation. I'm quite tempted to put my own music together for it too, as I hate it when Laura tells me I'm halfway and so on.
Congrats it must be a great feeling. I'm looking forward to that point where my legs just seem to move and I can drift off into my own thoughts. Might try the own music thing too, I quite agree about the music.
There were a few of us doing this run today No what the you mean about the music, first couple of weeks I though it was quite good but since then, not so sure!
Thanks - hope it goes well for you chrissy, I was dreading it too & went in with a 'give it a go' approach - still, to even contemplate a 20 minute run 5 weeks ago would have been unthinkable so we've all made huge progress.
Well done! I did this run yesterday too (just) and also took out my own music, which I loved. Sadly I didn't find it as easy going as you. I'm looking forward to going back to intervals for the beginning of week 6!
The own music thing definitely worked for me too (a few of us feel the same way looking at the posts), but I'll be back to the podcast for the interval runs next week - will treat myself to another homemade inspirational play-list for the dreaded Week 6 Run 3. Best of luck for Week 6!
Best of luck to you all whatever stage you're at (it's always a challenge!).
