WHOOOOOPPPPPP Week 5 Run 3 Done :-)

After the dismal failure and over thinking the over week I gave myself a really hard time for days and consequently haven't run at all.... with work and one thing and another I've found plenty of excuses not to go out.... so today I went out for the first time since the failed W5R3 (and didn't think about it this time... well kind of as I actually cleaned the fridge out in order to avoid it).... and did it!!!!

I avoided the little uphill gradient and at an angle pavement which would have come around the 8-10 min mark, and turned back just before this... this left me running the last 5 minutes down hill and my cool down walk on an uphill back to the house....

I didn't use Laura, but some music from another C5K site which was real music - and this helped as I could sing along.... and WHHHHOOOOOOOO..... 20 mins solid :-) Unbelievably happy as i could have run for a bit more if truth be told!

I'm sooooo happy about this :-) 5 weeks ago (well more as i had weeks off with an injured knee) I NEVER would have thought i would have run 20 mins, albeit slowly. So today including warm up and cool down I did 4k... (yes 4k Missy.. you really did 4k) in 32 mins... hardly Paula Radcliffe speed - but its all my speed :-)

Thanks to all those lovely people who read and commented on my failed post a couple of weeks back... you were all right... xxx

My advice to anyone reading this with this run coming up... ditch Laura if you need to, use music that you know, don't overthink it, alter your route if you need to, and be SO proud when you've done it... I can't believe I'm saying this but it really wasn't so bad in the end

Rehydrating with white wine as we speak!!!

xxxxxx

Thanks...I'll be watching to see how you do. It's not easy but it really is in the mind. You can do it xx

Well done, that 20 mins run is a real milestone in the programme and a point when the mental side of it kicks in. You just need to pace yourself for the shorter runs in week 6 and don't get carried away!

Huge milestone so thanks :-) I won't get carried away. Lazy say today, gentle swimming tomorrow then run on Wednesday. Xxx

Thanks both. Going to religiously stick to programme. I think the shorter runs from will be good for my confidence xx

It's so good to hear you've achieved this run and regained your confidence. It is a huge step up from the previous weeks and all said and done you are moving forward and in the right direction. Keep it up. xx

Thank you. Its ironic that i'm liking the longer runs more than the shorter ones. Pencilled in a park run for a few weeks time! Its nice to feel proud of this achievement. I tend to give myself such a hard time when I think I've failed xx

I'm so in awe of everyone who has completed W5R3 - it's a brilliant achievement, well done!

Thank you. Where are you in the programme? Its funny really when you think about just 20 mins.... on the clock it doesn't look so long... but oh boy did it feel long on my first attempt. Not thinking too much about it on my second attempt made ituch easier for some reason xx

thanks for this post, I failed it yesterday and have been grumpy since. I think I'll take your advice and ditch Laura for another attempt tomorrow. The time updates were not helping me yesterday! Well done!

Thank you all. I used running into shape (or something). Don't give yourself too hard a time about it. To get this far is amazing. I mean 5 weeks ago could you have run 8 mins? Also make sure you are well hydrated before going out. This was a failing on my first time I think. And as someone said to me even a bad run is better than no run.... better for your heart, soul and mind than sitting on the sofa. Let me know how you get on? Xx
