Week 5 Run 2

Well just completed this run, thank goodness for music and my will power to keep not looking at the time! The second eight was harder but was determine to do it. And surprising how quick a minute is now compared to when I started. Be very interesting to see what Jo says about the 20m run for the next one. Think i need to continue to concentrate on the music! First time I've recorded on Strava today including warm up and cool down coveted 4.5 km in 41 min that included walking to the route I take. Woukd you say I was on track?

Sounds good to me. I tried different music today which was not my usual running album and instead listened to rag'n'bone man which I love but the music didn't dull down when my app was talking so could not hear when to start running/walking ended up turning it off and it was OK actually without it.

Guess its good to try different things , as you'll not know what is best till you've tried. Had different playlist myself today , made sure they were ones I knew the words so could i concentrating singing along in my head! Heaven forbid I start to sing out loud! 😂😂

Do whatever it takes to stop yourself from clock watching. 'A watched kettle never boils' - as the old saying goes.

You seem to be covering a fair distance, but please don't get too focussed on this. It is better you complete the programme at whatever pace you are comfortable. If the means a 5k in 30mins then brilliant, but don't despair if not. You will get there once you have built your stamina and running legs. But push yourself too hard and you may end up doing yourself an injury.

Me too. Did it this morning. Still hard work but I never thought I'd manage... had to (in my head) talk to myself the whole time to keep going. I think I

need to sort out some music too. Good idea. How you feeling about the 20 minute run ?

Very scary the 20 min run , down to do it Saturday morning, I guess need to make sure set off slow and get that music going. To think I got to nearly 56 and never run. So chuffed with the progress though and give me something to concentrate on having just retired as well! Good luck for your 20 min run when you plan to do yours?

I'm also supposed to do it Saturday.. but we're away for the weekend in the mountains, which as such won't stop me doing it, however I've been told that running at altitude (1800m) is really much more difficult.. I don't know if anyone can advise?

I am trying not to think about the 20mins. Next time I am "just going out for a run"

Go slowly. Time,,distance, pace is immaterial. It's all about completing the session

I didn't listen to music, just the podcaster. I didn't want to miss out on anything, especially tips 🙂

The podcast overrides the music for me so I don't missing anything Jo has to say 😀

Good! Jo is really good. She gave C25kers a big up on her show recently, which was a nice touch 🙂

I did that one yesterday - no way did I do 4.5m (although I didn't measure it exactly). I concentrate on the music but it does affect the steady rhythm when it changes!

Whoo I have this run tomorrow and I'm sure the 8mins will be a massive step up from the 5 but good to know it's do-able👍 I don't listen to music as it doesn't stop when Jo starts talking and I can't really hear her over it so I just concentrate on my to do list in my head.....i run with hubby so I can concentrate looking at his lovely legs as he has a longer stride so is normally in front of me 😊

Well done on getting it done 😁
