Well... I only bloomin well DID IT! yup! Thats me with my daughter in the picture! I must say I did have to walk after the 3 k mark for about a minute and then again just before the 500km mark again, but I RAN most of the way! I went in the joggers section...not at all confident about the pain in my leg, which hurt during the warm up, then when the gun went off and it was at least 5 mins before everyone moved on to pass the start line! The heavens opened - it was torrential rain at times and the field muddy and slippy but I went slowly, ( must say - difficult when people stop in front of you and you are forced to dodge or stop yourself) and my 12 yr old daughter - wow! she flew ahead of me at some point! She didnt stop running - and finished at 40mins! - I finished at 44mins (didnt get the exact time!) but I am so pleased!!!!!!!!!
A few other dramas - this morning 20 mins before we were leaving I got stuck in the downstairs loo because the lock broke and my husband had to get his tool kit out and remove the whole door handlle....... so we nearly didnt make it at all lol! Then my other two daughters (age 14 and 3) were walking the race when my little girl got upset ( wet and cold with the rain) so a lovely marshall took them over to the first aid tent for a warm blanket - my husband heard an announcement by the TFM radio DJ to go to the St John tent and panicked! They both got thier medals though - I was very proud of my three girls for different reasons! All in all a great day!!!!!!!!!!!
