Running with a cold??

So iv managed to come down with a cold, the blocked nose, headachey, sore throat kind. I don't know whether to risk my w5r3 tomorrow? it feels like such a big step that i don't want to miss it, but on the other hand i don't want to make myself more ill. I don't feel my colds that bad, I'm not feverish or nauseous. What do you all think?

Not a good idea to run with a cold. Give yourself a break until the symptoms reduce, frustrating I know but you must listen to your body on this one!

If you give yourself time to get over it rather than pushing through the cold, you won't lose much, if any, of your fitness. I've posted this on here before, so apologies if you've already seen it, but I had to stop at exactly the point you're at, for 4 whole weeks, due to a nasty chest infection. When I picked up again I just went back to the beginning of week 5 and I was F-I-N-E !! But listen to your body.

okay maybe I'll give it a miss, I'm just worried i wont pick it back up again. I have a tendency to give up on things

sorry to hear that kittycat, could you perhaps just go for a fast walk? keep up the fluids, sure you will soon be back on form! you could always do w5 r2 again as soon as you feel better, I usually take echinacea and it works for me, not sure why and don't know whats in it, but hey its worth a try!

It's frustrating isn't it?

I did week 7 run 1 when I knew that I was coming down with something and really shouldn't have. That was 3 days ago and I am really suffering now! Up till now I have religiously gone out every other day, have never had to repeat a run and am just soooo annoyed at having to stop.

Hope you feel better soon KittyCatt.

Hi KittyCatt

Have you started your running again?

I have been SO ill with this cold. Worst I have had for a long long time so just moving has been a real effort.

Daren't go back to the running for a few more days yet in case I make it worse again.

Hope you are doing better.

Hello! Well i was terrible yesterday, i felt so ill!! Today it seems iv miraculously recovered overnight, and I feel a lot better. I think the worst is over, so I'm gonna go for a run tomorrow and finally complete week 5! yes!

Hope you feel better soon, i really understand how you feel, but i think its best to wait it out for a bit. I cant believe i would feel so disappointed about not being able to run! Another annoying point is how good the weather has been these past couple of days, it would be typical for the sun to make an appearance when I'm stuck in bed, but oh well. I wish you a fast recovery and hopefully we shall both be back running in no time :)

Good luck with finishing week 5. Take it slowly.

Yes, it is weird. I never ever thought that I would WANT to go for a run!

The shorts might even have come out today. Not a pretty sight. Let's hope that this lovely weather lasts for a bit longer.

Kittycatt,

If all that is hurting or ill is above the neck, you can run. If it's whole body aches, fever, or anything below the neck, don't. That is the bottom line! Saying that, if you're doing the twenty minutes, take it very easy!!
