Running after a cold

I had just completed week 7 before coming down with a cold. After reading up, the advice seemed to be listen to your body, and when you don't feel too bad you could go for it. It sounded like running when you have a cold might even be beneficial, providing it's on the way out and you don't ache much. So after a week of not running - a very frustrating week as I've been enjoying it so much - I went for a Trial run without the app on, and just ran to see how I felt and how far I could go. I needn't have worried, I managed a 25 minute run.

Yesterday, with the app on, I was on my first 28 minute run in week 8. I was pensive. The weather had cooled but the air was really moist, making it more difficult to breathe. But I did it without too much trouble.

I had been worried that I might have to go back a few weeks in the program, but I seem to have kept my form. Quite a relief and ... only five more runs to go!

After this, if I complete it (not wanting to jinx anything), I plan to consolidate for a month or so and then possibly increase the distance to 10k. I hope! Does that sound like a good plan?

That sounds like the best plan ever 😁 and sensible to rest when you have a cold

I agree with SueAppleRun ! A great plan. Take it step by step and we’ll be with you all the way.

Glad you’re feeling better from your cold. There have been some nasty summer ones around this year. Take it steady and look after yourself ❤️

Just to add to the good advice already given, once you're ready to start contemplating running longer distances, why not head over to the Bridge to 10K forum? It's here: healthunlocked.com/bridgeto10k

Obviously you can stay on C25k too, it's always good to have a mix of those currently doing or redoing the programme, and those who've gone on to develop their running.

Happy running!
