Running with a cold?? Should I?

So I’m loving the program after never thinking I could run. Due to do W4R3 today, sneezing yesterday and woken up feeling a bit shivery and achy.

Want to complete my week but don’t know if it’s a good idea to run through it.

Don’t want to fall off the wagon 😂

I’m not an expert by any means, but I would say it’s ok. I had a little cold and went out for my run. It felt ok. I was a bit chesty and running made me cough a bit but I think it helped it clear it up quicker? Maybe just my imagination??

Hi I would certainly go out, take it really easy and take sips of water regularly. If it is too much for you then stop and do it again tomorrow.

"Shivery and achy" sounds to me more than a common head cold. Sounds more like influenza to me - be careful about this and have it seen to. I would not be exerting myself too much until I did have it seen to and drink plenty of water.

We generally advise. above the neck.. fine. Below the neck.. i.e. chesty coughs..tight chest etc, no..

The shivers and aches may mean you have more than a cold.. maybe take an extra rest day... drink lots... eat well, get a good night's sleep, and head out tomorrow if all is well. This is not a race, and it is much more fun to enjoy the runs, feeling on form!

Feel better soon,

Thanks for your reply, this is probably more sensible I agree. Just so annoying when things are going so well

It is.. and just when you don't want it! But, the runs are there, and you are more important.. Cuddle up and rest up and maybe a gentle walk later... :)

Take plenty of tissues lol

Hi JLW

You and I are still level pegging !

I'd say go to it girl. I've been a bit crook this week but nailed R3 today! Blast those sniffles away.

Let's be ready for the challenge of W5
