Week 7. The majority of the programme is now behind me and I'm well on my way to becoming an addicted runner. I took an extra step this morning and bought myself a light-weight, shockingly bright yellow fluorescent waterproof jacket. Now everyone else will see me coming and I should be safe from the traffic and the inclement North-East weather.
So, suitably attired for this afternoon's drizzle, I set off along a different route to my normal run. As week 7 is the same as the last run of Week 6 I felt reasonably confident and pushed myself on for a little further. In total I ran for about 29 minutes. I'm sure Laura would probably tut at me and mutter something about sticking to the programme, but I felt good running today and decided to see if I could go a bit further. Am pleased I did as I've realised that I'm capable of doing a bit more than the programme says. My fitness is certainly building. Although, Laura, I promise I'll go back to just doing what you tell me from now on.....
The next two weeks are going to be a bit tricky, running wise. I'm away with work and it's likely I'll be doing some really long days. I'll try and fit in the runs around the travel as I'm now really motivated to finish this programme. For an enthusiastic and dedicated coach potato like me to have gone from gasping during week 1 to running for nearly 30 mins a few weeks later is nothing short of a miracle. To those of you on the early weeks of the programme and having any doubts, keep going, it really does work.
Good luck to all running this week.
