Pins and needles/numb feet

Hey everyone,

I’ve felt over the last few months that my feet get pins and needles/numb about 20 mins into a run. I had this issue before and I saw a physio about it who told me it was because of pronation (over or under, can’t remember).

He recommended support shoes, which I got but they didn’t do much.

I was able to get over it for a bit, but it seems to be back. Does anyone have any tips/is aware of this issue?

If it were me it'd be because I'd laced my shoes wrongly. Might be that, or possibly the shoes, though less likely if they were properly fitted and the sizing's right.

However your feet (obviously) aren't mine. You could try different lacing techniques, but if the problem persists I'd suggest getting specialist advice.

someone in my run club mentioned that too. Ill give it a go before spending money on support shoes i might not need

If you haven't already, google "lacing running shoes" and you'll get loads of suggestions. Here's just one: asics.com/nz/en-nz/mk/choos...

As you've spotted, it costs nothing to try! 😉

Yes, my first thought would also be to try different lacing techniques, specifically the ones that give your forefoot more room.

Let us know how it goes!

Tight laces as suggested.. tight socks even... but if the tingling persists, or is there at times other than when running... do go and get a quick foot check up from your GP...or podiatrist:)

thanks for the advice everyone. I think it’s a laces/new shoes issue. I ran with my oldest trainers today (ie, they’re worn and used to my feet) and I didn’t feel anything.
