Hi there. I have been actively reading the blogs and questions over the last 7 weeks and have found some of the answers very helpful indeed. I have just completed Week 8 run 1 and I'm really enjoying it. I have noticed a problem with numbness in my feet now that I am completing longer runs. Has anyone come across this before?
Numb Feet!: Hi there. I have been actively... - Couch to 5K
Numb Feet!
I've had this problem on a few runs. Can't seem to work out why. Had it in the early days and changed my trainers...seemed to help and then I've had it during w8 / w9 but not on every run so not sure if its down to our bodies just adjusting to longer runs or not. Today did the longest and furtherst I've ever done and my feet were fine. If you find out why / solution, let me know
Thanks AliB1. I've thought about changing my trainers but to be honest I didn't really want the expense until I knew I would stick to the plan. But as Laura said I'm now a runner so I might just have to bite the bullet and go for it!
Can fully recommend getting decent trainers...best thing I did with this running lark I think they helped enormously.
Yeah, I think I will. I have just booked a 5k Race for Life in May so best get them soon and break them in!
I had this a while back - I was tying my laces too tight! It sounds mad but I'd recently brought some new 'proper' running shoes and was so upset as I thought I'd wasted all that money, but it was the lacing putting too much pressure on the foot in my case - once I loosened them the numbness stopped - it didn't occur until I was doing the longer runs, over the shorter ones I'd been fine, so it seems to be something to do with the distance as well. Sorry I can't be more help but I'd absolutely recommend getting some new shoes, but also check your lacing - mine have to be worryingly lose when I run now!
Hi,,
I had this around week 5 of C25K and I loosened my laces to, as AmandaW says above and it cured it. Once you start running your feet expand and fill the gaps !!
