Well that was an experience, one I enjoyed once I got past the first lap or so.Picked a run close to where we go most weekends in Norfolk, picked Fleggburgh which is close to my beloved Norfolk broads, a 15 minute drive, so not too far.
Reading about it on the Parkrun website it states 'very flat' so that suits me fine.
Pre run talk, then off to the start. 9.00 and off we go, feeling a bit of trepidation as not run much off my treadmill but I am here and giving it a go. Quater of the way round I check my pace I have gone off like a steam train, faster than I have done ever on c25k or beyond c25k, this is not a race and I have no PB to beat so slow it down! Felt a bit better slower but that start had taken too much out of me and I was thinking maybe 2 laps of the three and quit! I didn't, had 4 small walks though, much needed. Carried on to the end, hoping for 40 minutes but came in at 36mins 16seconds, so very happy. Just for info the first person to finish came in at just over 19 minutes, it was his 116 Parkrun.
So all of you on your journey through c25k, keep it going, the sheer joy and happiness I am feeling right now is such a reward for all those weeks of training. The end goal is doable but only the beginning of the next journey. Today I ran the furthest I have ever run in my 56 years on this earth and everything and anything is possible. I have so much confidence in c25k and can vouch for the results, today has proved it.
So all you on c25k, keep it going, you are capable and you can achieve your goals, the reason you started this is not impossible to get to, just remember, as I was told today, this is not a race, and as you will be told on here, speed is not important. I have done it, so can you!
