Pins and needles while running

Hi, I've just completed W6R1 and today my right foot went completely numb from pins and needles, this only happened slightly on the last run but not to this extreme it was painful to carry on. Any suggestions as to what is causing it and how I can stop it from happening?

laces too tight? that's what the cause was for me, and it only happened after a certain time/distance due to feet heating up. try googling how to tie your shoes different, its the most simple fix to start with and eliminate first.

good luck :)

I would suggest its something as simple as your laces being too tight (hopefully). As your run progresses its quite common for your feet to swell a little causing your shoes to be tight. Two options, tie them looser to start with or when you feel them getting tight stop and loosen off. There are also different ways to fasten your laces I'm sorry I can't find the link but if you do a search for lacing runners shoes in google you should locate it. I found loosening my laces over the highest part of my foot helped Hope this helps.

Great question! I have the same problem with the 4th & 5th toes of my right foot. I've just Googled lacing running shoes & it made me smile to see the number of responses. I'm sure we'll both get it sorted now. Thanks everyone! Will save a trip to the running shop.

A couple weeks ago I also experienced the pins and needles and despite my laces being very loose, it kept happening. I put it down to the special running socks I had bought, so now no longer use fancy socks.
