Firstly I'd like to say a massive thank you for all the lovely comments and support from my first post. I've woken up today from my first run on Sunday and surprise surprise my legs are stiff and aching. Not a surprise given it's been over 20 years since I did any sort of meaningful exercise. This does not deter me, it means that my body is slowing coming round to the idea that I'm not going to treat it as a skip anymore! My plan is to rerun R1 either tomorrow or Wednesday dependant on where my body is. To quote Kang from the Simpsons, 'We must go forward, not backward. Upward, not downward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom'...

W1R1 - the rerun

Well done I am also at the start, Sunday week 1 r1 today run 2 . I am so pleased with myself for getting out. I am posting each run to motivate me to do it and keep at it. Keep going, I will look out for your posts.

I love the idea that aches are the way your body is telling you it’s not prepared to be a skip.. I think running could be your detox.

Slow and steady and well done... have you checked out the FAQ post on How to run C25K...loads of tips to help those aches and pains!
The S and F forum too has loads of helpful tips and links to all manner of exercise which will keep our body and our mind healthy, fit and strong !

Wear those aches like a badge of honour, you have earned the right to complain about it, as long as it's an ache and not pain! You will find during your journey you will use muscles you never knew you had, for me the odd niggle is proof you are improving, those muscles will complain but they learn as well, sometimes will be easier than others. You can never fail to improve if you can't finish a run you will still benefit from it physically and mentally and be more ready to re do it. Ooh sorry Ipswich just scored! Every bit of exercise will reap a reward even if you don't realise. Keeping going, I will look forward to your updates.

Those aches tell you you've worked so well done you

Go you! And keep on keeping on! Your legs are going to get stronger with every run! Happy running.

Terrific attitude. I hope your re-run went well and you enjoyed some warmer and sunnier weather...
