I'm not entirely couch-ridden - I've been doing some fairly light strength/stretching stuff every day for months, and biking as main means of transport in a hilly city means my body wasn't taken too much by surprise by the whole concept of exercise. My calves took a while to get used to the new angle of attack though, and I now understand why running is an 'impact' sport and cycling isn't. It feels like harder work somehow.

Anyhow I'm back for more tomorrow....

Excellent start and good for you for doing it. Just stick with it. And I like your profile name - being a tele owner myself!

Ironically, my only actual Fender guitar is a strat. Both my tele-alikes are heavily modified non-Fenders.

Nice start! Sounds like you’re up for the challenge, and this programme is such fun and very achievable! You’ll smash it! 😀😀😀

We just need a gearing system for flats and freewheel ability in downhills and this running lark would be easy 😂. That said I prefer running uphill to cycling it.

Great job getting that first run done, cycling is pretty much perfect rest day cross training so you should benefit from it. Likewise I believe running is good “recovery” for cycling.

Enjoy your journey.

Blimey. Does this mean I'm actually crosstraining now, or is that some other bit of arcane fitness lingo?

You’re cross training. On a technicality I guess it’s only cross training if one is purely to help the other, but the action is the same. Chuck in some swimming and you’re triathlon training, or cross training for cycling, or running... it’s a grey area what you call it, but you’re doing it well!

We do have a gearing system. It's called cadence :-)

Well, mine only works on short “strides” right now. I used to be able to run 180 at several different stride lengths, but I lost a few gears by not using them 😂. My engine is also lacking, but I’m back around 150 judging by my music so it’s going in the right direction! I do need that freewheel downhill though, that would be great.

Will you please, please, please play air guitar when you run around? I can't be the only one who unleashes his inner Jimmy Page... :-)

I occasionally air drum... we could try and start a band!?
