The beginning W1R1

I am not an athlete by nature, i like Pilates (exercise whilst lying down) i like watching sport on the telly (whilst lying on the sofa) do you see the theme! The thought of running just fills me with horror but age is creeping up and my aerobic fitness is shocking so action has to be taken. With a holiday in 4 weeks it might also be a good opportunity to lose a pound or two.

So after much procrastination I finally started by c25k journey this afternoon. I really expected that I would bitch and grumble my way through this process, as that's my way of dealing with things I don't really want to be doing but are supposedly good for me. Well suprise, surprise it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! I'm not saying for one moment it was enjoyable but for now it's doable (pls don't remind me of that when I get to week two and the bitching and moaning kicks in!)

Well done on starting C25K. The bitching and moaning generally begin around weeks 3-4.

Please don’t be disappointed if you haven’t noticed any weight loss by the time your holiday comes around. Eat healthy and follow the program and I’m sure you’ll lose weight, but it’ll take a bit longer than 4 weeks I think.

Good for you Jogunlikely!! That’s the hardest one done. Take it nice & slow (snails pace, you’ll here it many time on this supportive forum. Almost a mantra lol) Enjoy your journey 👍🏻

Please tell me you haven’t mounted a treadmill on the wall to do this lying down! 😂

Great job getting off that couch and smashing run 1... in many ways that’s the hardest run done. Don’t worry about pace, go slow. Don’t worry about distance, if you log your runs don’t look. Just focus on the time... 60 seconds at a time. Use the strength that got you off the sofa to the start of run one to focus on the next one. Relax before you start. You are capable of this, trust the plan, believe in yourself and become an athlete.

Haha no lying down involved. 😂

I forgot to turn Strava on for today's run but I think you are right. I would be disappointed by the lack of distance so no recording until I start the running without stopping phase.

Log by all means... just stop the run and close the app, it doesn’t matter yet, but in a few weeks you can see how much you’ve progressed, so even the early runs being logged serves a purpose.

Keep up the good work
