Hey guys, just wanted to say thanks for all the encouragement earlier, I logged on here with the vague notion I MIGHT do a run at some possibly non-existent date in the future, but from talking to you guys I ended up downloading the lovely Laura and doing It! Would NOT have done so without the kind words earlier!
W1R1 went pretty well though I'm sore now... I did NOT think 90 seconds brisk walking between runs would have been sufficient 'rest' for me, but to my immense surprise it was! Only glitch was the fact I set off heading away from my house and didn't turn back half way so had a significant distance to walk back when I was done... on reflection that was pretty dumb!
Anyway, thanks Guys! Looking forward to the next one!

Well done Listy, youre off the couch, out of the door and up and running !
Glad it went well ,and great to read youre looking forward to the next one, prepare to be amazed for the next 9 weeks !
Keep posting, its great to look back and see how far you have come and it will help to inspire others . Plus anything youre not sure about, please don't worry about asking , we are all here to help and support you .
Amazing!! Well done you!! That's what the forum is for! Before long you'll be addicted, running for 30 minutes and advising new runners how to get through the programme! Oh yes you will!
Don't worry about the long walk back, it will do you good. I do it most of the time. Did it today in fact. More calories burned! It helps stretch out tired muscles. I walk backwards sometimes as I think it helps stretch out my calves.
The hardest thing is getting yourself out of the door, so you have overcome the first gremlin. Now take a very important rest day and look forward to your next run, well done!
Yeah, with starting on a Wednesday I sort of half considered doing the second one tonight with no rest, so I can do the last one at the weekend and be ready for next week... but from what several of you guys have said that would be a dumb idea... Anyway, had that thought last night, too sore today anyway!
Listy99 good luck, as for the not turning I think that's actually quite a good thing. I did that too and never turned at all. By pure accident what it did mean was when I did turn and go home the distance was 5k so now I know exactly what my target distance is. It also gives me a much better warm down and as someone else mentioned more calories burned π
