Couch to 5K

Hello. I've just completed week 3 of Couch to 5k. I have completed the course before, around this time last year.

This time I'm wanting to continue on ti train for 10k. Can anyone recommend any apps to use, as I believe the NHS app only goes as far as 5k.

Any other tips would be appreciated too.

Many thanks 😊

There are various plans that will get you to 10k, generally 3 runs a week and increase one run a few minutes each week until you get there.Look on here for the magic plan, otherwise if you like the guided runs there's Nike run club which is an app and has different plans to follow and loads of guided runs.

Once you complete the programme spend a few weeks consolidating, and just run for fun for a while before you start to increase.

🍏 Excellent advice from    SueAppleRun Here is a link to the Magic Plan on our Bridge to 10k forum

Another tip is to add strength & flex exercises to your routine. Explore our App. This will be the best thing you can ever do to facilitate your running.

Congratulations on your progress so far! I’m the same as you-I like to plan ahead and look forward to my next starting line.

The Magic Plan is a great way to build to 10k (it’s what I did first!) but it isn’t an app. If you want commentary, Nike Run Club is a really good option…as long as you’re happy with a bit of a cheese fest! We had a question over on Bridge about this recently-you might find the answers helpful. There are a number of other suggestions…

My top tip is to aim for consistency. That’s the biggest thing that makes my running go well. That and hitting the gym on days off!

Good luck with your rerun of Couch to 5k!

Well done on making it to Week 4!!

Agree with SAR re: consolidating after completion of the programme.

I used NRC and really enjoyed the guided runs and took on board a lot of Coach Bennetts comments on monitoring 'form'.

Keep us posted...
