Ok so I'm only beginning week 2 and I feel good and I'm taking it slow however I had terrible hip pain on last run and now I'm actually in pain . Surely it can't be the running ..

Definitely give it a rest for a bit.
You should never ever run through or with pain. Even Olympic marathoners sometimes forget this (she ended up with a stress fracture of her hip).
If it doesn't get any better over the next few days, get it checked out by a qualified medical professional, eg. your GP.
Rest, use an icepack, maybe painkillers if you can't sleep. If it's still bad after a day or two see a doctor. Whatever you do don't run until it's better, and if it clears up when you rest and then starts again, see a doctor.
As you have already been advised..no run until no pain and if it does not go... then get expert support and advice

Yes, definitely seek some guidance from your healthcare professional! Don’t run in pain.
