Hip pain

After the past 3 runs (approx a week apart) I've noticed a pain in the front of my right hip, it doesn't hurt whilst running but comes on afterwards. Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea what it is? I've tried hip flexor stretches today but it's still there, should I rest it or keep a regular running routine with stretching? I'm not sure what to do for the best. I've been running 2-3 times a week since graduating a few months ago but for the past month its been more infrequent due to a water infection. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Keep stretching for sure. Also - are your shoes wearing down? I started to notice pains in my knees and hips last year that improved after getting new running shoes. If it doesn't improve I'd go see a sports physiotherapist. Mine is worth her weight in gold.

Thanks for the advice, the physio might be the best thing. My shoes are still in good shape...unlike me!!

Tight hip flexors, keep on stretching well including hamstrings & calves.

Check shoes as well.. Do you know they're OK for sure? How many miles have they done? A rule of thumb 300-500 miles or 18 months which ever comes first, heavier runners will wear them out sooner.

I get groin nagging sometimes, keep on stretching it and it goes off, but have to keep on top of it, worth it though for the fitness I've gained..

I sympathise Gerry , I had hip bursitis earlier this year , what a pain that was ! I didnt run for 2 weeks as advised by the physio I went to see and he also give me some exercises to do, eg Clams, Bridges, Squats and Lunges.

I dont really suffer much at all now with my hips , thank goodness ! :-) xxx

I was given an interesting stretch by a podiatry guy for hip. Stand in front bench to table. Resting arms and upper body on a bench or table. let legs slide out either side. It seems bit weird but have had no hip issues since doing it.
