Week 6 run 3 then covid

I did it. I was so pleased with myself as after 5 mins I had the choice to go up the slight slope or down. I went up ( normally I would opt for easier route) and managed the whole 20 mins running. I felt SO GOOD. Talk about pride before a fall. I then got covid!!! So 10 days of feeling bunged and very tired. I am now testing negative but still feel tired. Should I try week 7 or repeat easier and shorter runs? How have others coped post covid.

Hopefully you are on the road to recovery now..

This post here from a couple of years back... it may be useful.

Basically, your body knows what is happening and starting gently is the way. Starting with some gentle walking may be the beginning and seeing just how you feel... and then, ( and I Know for me, I had to do a fair few walks before I even felt like running), try a little jogette... and see how that feels.

Listen to your body and hear what it says,... you will know then how to move on.

Many of us have after illness repeated all of C25K, beginning again and using it as a real warm up to where we were, or bits of it; Me included; I did not feel very ill, the week I tested positive for Covid, it was after, when the tiredness, was overwhelming.

We are all different and only you will know when the time is right for you to begin running!

My advice... don't push too hard and take it slow and steady.

But here we are ready to support you and looking forward to seeing how you go on.

Thank you all. I decided to start again and see how it went. I did Wk1 run 1 and it was OK so did wk2 run1 and that was OK. Today I did wk 3 r 1 and the 3 minute bit was fine downhill but breathing was harder for slightly uphill 3 mins and heart rate was higher. So now I know, week 3 repeat is where I am. So see you on week 6 in a few weeks time.

Great advice from  Oldfloss you definitely need to listen to your body. If you feel you can move on to WK7 then do so if not then just repeat easier and shorter runs ,only you know what you may feel like. Personally I would repeat easier runs until I felt my body was ready to could cope with moving forward and…..you will know when that is. I hope you start to feel stronger soon and good luck👍🙋‍♀️x

Thank you. I have a 10k in September and was just on track to be able to try and run it. It might have to walk/ run it BUT I will do it. I am basically a couch potato and it is C25K which has kept me going, I am on my 3rd go through. I am grateful for this support.

Run/Walk method is ok too. Why don’t you have at look at the Jeff Galloway website . This is the guy that introduced this method of running. It’s a good informative read. I did that on my 10k May 2023 . It was hot and the route was new to me aswell as very undulating. So I decided that’s what I would do it worked for me and I finished the race.

You are doing great don’t forget to tell yourself that from time to time! 👍👏👏😂

morning oldperson47 ..well done on your progress so far, you’re doing so well and your pride is completely earned!!! So sorry though to hear you had covid? At least it’s gone now and hopefully there’ll be no after effects..if I were you, I’d aim to do week 7 and while you’re out there, see how you feel, if it feels like too much effort, adapt it…run what you can..listen to your body..you can always go back to it when you’re up to full strength again x

Oh no!! I've been down and out with a really nasty sinus infection for two weeks. No COVID, thankfully.

But very well done on completing Week 6 Run 3! What an accomplishment.

As everyone says, it's time to listen to your body and it will tell you where and when you need to start.

Slow and steady...

It started with a sinus infection. Then I heard that so many people in the area had covid so I did a test. Today the test was negative. I have just done w1r1 just to see how it went. It was slow but I did it. I just need to improve fitness yet again!
