Week 6 Run 3 Done!

So I completed my 3rd run of the 6th week!πŸ˜„ I ran for 30 mins (than the proposed 25) as I kept at it till the nearest landmark, covering around 4.7 km (according to various apps on my phone). This run was so much more easier than the 2 runs before this week. The same ws the case last week too with me still having fair amount of energy left in the end. I'm hoping now it'll just be uninterrupted running than the interval ones πŸ˜† I enjoyed today immensely. Running is fun!! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

Nice going! It sounds like you’ve got this absolutely nailed, so good luck with week 7!

Well done..but just do what you have to... relax into the runs...and take it gently:)

Thank you 😊 ..yea the extra bit is only because I feel weird stopping in the middle of the road. So I keep going till I reach the end or some reference point. Its a silly habit to be honest πŸ˜…

It's fine.. I can never reverse a route now:)

Interesting you say that - I run a linear route along the coast and I find myself allowing a couple of hours for a 5k run - 10 minute warm up walk (because 5 leaves me still with roads to cross), 35-ish minute run and then a bit over an hour for the 6k walk back home! I could turn round at 2.5k, of course I could. Sometimes I even plan to - but unless I'm in a desperate hurry, I don't turn round till I've stopped running.

Yes that's you done with interval runs now till graduation. If you ran for 30 minutes continuously today then that's as hard as it will get, on paper. But none of us run on paper. The challenge lies in sustaining the effort three times a week (though even that's approximate of course, you can take extra rest days if you need to.)

Oh, I do realise that. Running it once isn't enough, I have to be consistent and run it multiple times. Hmm.. Wasn't planning to but I guess I'll try running 3 30 mins runs for week 7 itselfπŸ˜„ I didn't run 5k so that is still the ultimate objective for these 9 weeks 😊

Actually no ... the objective in this programme is to be able run for 30 minutes. It doesn’t matter if you don’t actually cover 5k in that time.

I guess then that's my objective 😊 Take care

I think it's most people's objective in the end. Just the majority find it takes them more than 30 minutes running, and therefore possibly more than 9 weeks to reach 5k. In my case I did 5k on my graduation run but that was because I felt good and ran on for six more minutes (which is safe enough, within the 10% rule). Other people take a bit longer. A minority can indeed do 5k in 30 minutes by graduation: if that's your comfortable pace that's fine. The risk of injury is where people try to make big improvements in both endurance and pace at the same time - if you've already got the pace it won't be an issue.

I did the same last night. Ran for longer. Really enjoyed and I’d felt tired before I went out. Week 7 here we go.

Well done to you too.

I have done exactly the same run. I could do 4.4km in total I guess. Even though I was fine breathwise and so on, my ankle was getting some sharp rain intermittently. I continued and finished. The night was a bit painful too. I hope it will vanish and I will do the 7th week 1st run tomm.

Glad you completed it!πŸ˜„ 4.4k is pretty amazing! But I hope you will take care of that ankle. I'm pretty new to the whole running thing and haven't actually come across any pain like that.. maybe you could make a new post and seek advise from other seasoned, experienced runners here. Also hope you're taking rest days between runs 😊

Twoba I did the same (ran for longer at Wk7) and felt a bit of a pain in my ankle. So I decided to take a couple of extra days rest. Was a bit worried heading out again but had my best run on Wk8 run 1.
