Had a terrible run started running my head hurt thought I had my hair to tight then dropped my light which broke so so wanted to give up but i didn't I finished but it's knocked my confidence and I'm now thinking running isn't for me unless I'm in the house on my treadmill
1st run to get a medal: Had a terrible run... - Couch to 5K
1st run to get a medal
We’ve all had runs like that-it’s a rite of passage! It doesn’t mean you’re any less of a runner than before it happened. Take a rest day and have another go. You can switch to the treadmill if that works best for you but it would be a shame to let one duff run knock you off course. How have your other runs gone up to now?
My other runs have been OK but that 1 really has knocked me
Totally get that. Those gremlins that make us remember the dodgy runs but forget all the good ones can be a real pain. If you can, I’d try and go out soon and pick a run you’ve done before so you can approach it knowing it’s within your capability. Maybe even a couch to 5k run you enjoyed. Choose a nice route, good music and just give it a go. We have phases where we feel confidence and phases where we don’t, but that’s often not based on reality. You’ve got hours of runs in your legs and that hasn’t suddenly disappeared with this one tough run. Good luck!

Well done you... but maybe a little too much too soon... take a good rest and then head out and maybe do a daylight run
Well done for finishing. We all get bad days out running but they are worth putting up with because when you get a good one they are just amazing.
Good luck with your next run benit o the treadmill or outside.
We all have horrible runs,Plumprunner . The fact that you didn't give up despite your head hurting and the broken light suggests to me that you're much stronger than you might think. If you'd rather run on a treadmill, then do so. But I personally wouldn't write off running outside just because that one run didn't work out.
Also, do be wary of putting too much pressure on yourself. If you've only just completed C25K (the UK NHS version) then there's no reason why you have to run 5K every run, or indeed at all. The programme's designed to get you running at a comfortable pace for 30 minutes without a break, and you're advised not to go adding on extra running time right away.
Be aware, too, that running with others might push you to go faster than you would normally, which isn't ideal for a new runner.
Lastly, if getting a medal motivates you, that's great, but don't forget that you've plenty of time for that in the future.
Enjoy your next run!
Thank you
Don’t be hard on yourself . We have all been in that situation. However that was one run. Have a good rest.then get back out there.Yes it’s great to get medals but isn’t it even better just to go out and enjoy running. Don’t forget this is for yourself no one else I’m sure you definitely get back out there.👍x
