I've got a medal for running!!!

Did the Olympic Anniversary Run today and it was great. Have always considered running my personal Olympic Legacy so it seemed very fitting for my first organized run to be in the Olympic Park. Most of the park is a bit of a building site at the moment but coming into the stadium was fantastic, running under the seated areas they were blasting out crowd noise and Chariots of Fire which did make me feel quite emotional. On the track just had to run round to the finish line as fast as I could - and was surprised how much energy I had left to do that. Noticed running over the start point for the 200m and remembered seeing the men's heats of that during the games. I have done nothing sporty since I got my bronze medal for swimming aged about 8 - and my friends wristbands had "guest of athlete" written on them. Finally at 57 I am an a athlete (sort of). Brilliant day.

Thank you - luckily the weather was kind to us and the sun didn't come out until the end.

I was also there and agree in every way. An amazing day and a brilliant experience. If you;d told overweight unfit me when i watched the Olympics last year that I would run on that track I'd have laughed at you.

Thank you - I feel I can now ease up until this heat subsides a bit.
