Hi

I have never been able to run but do enjoy walking, swimming and horse riding.

Unfortunately due to various reasons piled on the pounds.

I have been gradually increasing activity while sticking to a calorie controlled diet which is fine as I still eat what I like

I have ditched the wine and decided time to step up a gear and did my first C25k session yesterday. Was a bit tough but felt so great all day afterwards. Managed to do the full minutes. The slow jog was slower than my brisk walk but really felt the difference.

Have ordered some ankle and knee supports to use while I am shifting the weight.

Looking forward to this journey :)

It’s great to see you here-welcome! You’ve made a brilliant start…that’s often the hardest bit.

Im just wondering about the knee and ankle supports. Have they been recommended by someone? Usually they’re not needed and it’s best to work on strength alongside your run-a great place to start with this would be to check in on the strength and flex board here…

The bonus with starting early in your journey is it will help protect you from injury too.

Really good luck and can’t wait to hear your updates!

Thank you I will have a look at the link. I find when I have been walking a lot my ankles ache and I also get sore knees. The supports are just light ones for now. I need to loose 30kg so want to be careful on joints. :)

thank you all so much for the warm welcome, advice and support.

Run 2 completed today. Didn’t get as far as day one but honestly I am not bothered about distance. Slow and steady :)

Welcome and well done on week one Don’t worry about week 2 or any of the on coming weeks. They’re never all going to be the same. You do what you can at the time and don’t over think it.

I’m looking forward to reading about your journey.

My advice would be to do warm up exercises before as well as the 5 min warm up walk and to do some decent stretching after too. Anything you can do to avoid a strain/sprain/niggle that can derail enthusiasm.

I also found the Japanese Slow Jogging video invaluable. It reset my thinking about what I was trying to achieve and how I was going about it.

🏃‍♀️ w1 R3 done. Felt fantastic. Can’t explain it felt relaxed and the minutes went so quick. The last run I did 1.30 just to see how it felt and was great. Definitely breathing easier. So happy.

W2 starts monday :)
