Week 5 Run 3 was completed with a greatful cheer. My inner ego, Enid, had put more than 5 items of sports gear in the various checkout baskets as a reward.
Don't tell Enid but only one item actually got purchased and I probably won't receive it or wear it until Week 6 Run 3. Maybe that should be the next incentive to motivate us.
Enid dreams of multi-coloured clothes, and I promise I looked at so many, but ended up with a grey and black bra top that will match my black leggings.
Are you all wearing bright colours or serious black?

Oooh that Enid! I tend to wear bright coloured tops but all my leggings are pretty dark although one pair has a fluorescent bottom half bit which is great for running in the dark. Well done on completing that milestone run ๐๐๐.
Well, something happened to me when I started running. I began in a pair of Decathlon grey leggings and black top but slowly became someone I didn't recognise, with an entire wardrobe of brightly coloured and patterned garments to suit every type of weather! I'm not sure how or when exactly it happened as I usually hate drawing any attention to myself ๐
Black. All black except for Bandannas Red, Blue, Green, White bandannas - whatever comes out of the drawer first lol - but apart from that, except for runs where a certain logo or whatever is showing respect, ALL black
Ooh a bandanna...love it. (But I confess to have Googled it just to double check what it is.) Does that keep your hair out the way, keep your head warm or is it a style choice? I may have to investigate this option.
Yep. One thing I have definitely strived for over the years is that everything I carry be as adaptable to different purposes as possible I goy it down to where I could go overseas for three or four weeks with just carry on bags and felt quite proud of myself, until I met someone who did the same thing with just two shopping bags
I think we all could benefit from being a little bit Enid, what clothes is concerned.
When starting running, I only had long leggings that were were black. Two years on, I have very colourful leggings, shorts and capris and love them all!
So nice to see Enid explore something different, although I have to admit, Iโve become attached to her yellow, orange, red look.
Thank you, CBDB. It's great to read that so many of the community did the journey from black to bright and maybe I ought to release the reigns on Enid a bit. Also if don't change up her outfit I am going to have to buy more red and yellow paint for my paintings. ๐๐๐ป
Neon and bright colours all the way!!! Sturdy by Design's shorts, capris and leggings are fantastic - people are so busy admiring the leggings that they don't really look at how you're running... Just sayin'...
Someone on here recommended Rainbows and Sprinkles and I got bright coloured cats, Highland Cattle and wooly sheep leggings. I should have only got one pair, but I couldn't choose ๐คฃ๐๐๐They make me and others smile and they have stretch and pockets etc, but also give a message that this is for fun!
It's amazing how couch to 5k changes you. I started out in walking boots, casual trousers and a fleece and under cover of darkness. This morning I ran in swim shorts and a purple top through the town. Not quite brave enough to go down to the watersports bratop that I had on underneath for the swim at the end, but I think that time may come, flab and all ๐คฃ
Started off as the Grey Snail, evolved into a multicoloured mollusc!
There is a good reason though, were one needed, certainly for part of the year... as I am very susceptible to insect bites, especially the peevish horsefly;
They are fabulous...my inner Enid is jumping up and down. ๐๐๐๐ปThat is also a really interesting trick to reduce the bitey whatsits. Thank you, Oldfloss. It's one to add to the running manual. What a brilliant community.
Well, I figure it is all about enjoyment.. and I just love making folk smile... my Little Princess leggings and my winter owls...and I am a bargain queen....often bright colours and funky patterns get reduced...hence my Orange trail shoes and my Oldfloss road runners... which Mr OF bought me... they have Old Floss on them!!!All good fun and , I do recycle too....
Oh I remember this Floss! Thank goodness, no bites this year so far ๐คWhat about you?
Nilsam , colours all the way for me! I run on quiet country roads and so bright colours keep me safer I think. And I like them ๐
Also, a friend who runs and once went to a Running Retreat told me that we shouldnโt wear black when running because dogs react badly to black and are more aggressive.
Absolutely! I did most of C25K on the treadmill and loved it. And even then it was colours all the way. They usually clash with my scarlet coloured face but who cares? ๐ฅต๐ค
Aren't they just?! I only have 2 pairs, one summer and one winter, so I'm forever having to wait for the wash to finish or running in slightly damp ones ๐
I like the brightest colours I can find for my tops (and I have a couple of perky pink bobble hats for running in colder weather too ๐). Leggings however - black all the way. Well nearly.... the OH once told me to buy some snazzier leggings, apparently navy wasn't what he had in mind ๐ณ and I still only wear the navy ones when the black ones are all in the wash ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Totally agree, still trying to find leggings with a big enough waist pocket for my phone - why are they all on one leg?! Makes me feel like my leggings are falling down even when they're not (I hope!)
Oh yes, I love a pocket and couldn't believe it when some shorter leggings didn't have any. Even on the treadmill I still need somewhere for the phone due to the app.
I love bright colours in my non running life but for some reason it's always black leggings (or at best very dark blue). I still go for the colourful tops but always baggy ones. I think I'm kidding myself that no-one will notice all my overweight jiggly bits but who am I fooling when it's topped off with a bright red glowing face ๐ฅต๐
Reading your replies has inspired me, why should we hide in dark plain colours just because we're a bit older or a bit wobblier. We should be standing (or running) proud and saying look what we can do. So next time I'm shopping for running gear I'm going to find the brightest most colourful thing I can. ๐๐๐(And if the colour matched beetroot so much the better)
M0use, I am feeling the same way. I will have to wait for the next "treat" time but it is rather inspiring, isn't it?Don't forget to post whatever you go for and I might let "Enid" loose after all. ๐๐ค๐
As a guy, the boldest thing I have is a fluorescent yellow fleece top, which is my regular wear during the winter months. I have some race tee shirts in bright blue, but I hardly ever wear them.
My shorts are mostly black. My winter leggings are dark with subtle patterns.
Thank you...as I am now returning to running I think you have a good point. If I am going to carry on...and I am, I may as well have the gear for comfort and style.Happy running.
Just had this lemon yellow running top delivered today. 1.99 plus postage so got some shorts as well. Like the leggings above have large pocket.KALENJI Dry Men's Breathable Running T-Shirt - Lemon Yellow
Heyโฆ.. all those wonderful coloursโฆโฆserious black for me and sometimes a white t shirt for a changeโฆ..but I love colours. Black and grey bra top sounds perfect, I havenโt got an inner Enid but thereโs a rather frivolous Sola lurking who wants all the bright colours one day. Week 5 run 3 is a great milestone so keep on running.
Haha love this. Iโm a mixture of both and what I stick on depends on my mood. Sometimes Iโm very bright. Sometimes Iโm all black. (Donโt mess with me on black days ๐)
Iโm definitely going to treat myself to a purchase when I graduate again.๐ช๐ผ
